Direct Support Professional Training Instructor

Bryant & Stratton College is seeking an Instructor to deliver a 5-week, on-campus (9 AM - 3 PM, Monday - Thursday), Direct Support Professional training program, encompassing various aspects of person-centered care, disability support, and relevant policies and procedures. This program will prepare individuals for employment as Direct Support Professionals upon completion. Tasks include:

• Deliver educational curriculum in alignment with the NYS and/or NADSP competencies for Direct Support Professionals.
• Instruct and adhere to the tenants of the Code of Ethics for Direct Support Professionals.
• Act as a point of contact with provider liaison(s) for the shadowing experiences of students.
• Track attendance and manage classroom conduct in accordance with college guidelines
• Foster a positive and inclusive learning environment, promoting teamwork, respect, and continuous professional feedback

Qualifications:

• Familiarity with the NYS DSP Competencies preferred
• Experience in supporting people with Developmental and/or Intellectual Disabilities preferred; professional experience in a healthcare setting required
• Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport, motivate learners, and provide constructive feedback
• Must have excellent stand–up delivery and facilitation skills that drive key learning outcomes and motivate application beyond the classroom
• Minimum associates degree required

Salary:

$5,000 per class
