Senior Backend Engineer - Coach Team

The Opportunity
We’re looking for a Senior Backend Engineer to join our Coach team - the team’s mission is “We help good coaches become great coaches”. This group owns a product-critical, web-based offering that allows coaches to interact with athletes, support their growth, and guide performance. It's a highly user-facing space, where the end users - sports coaches - rely on the product to foster development and connection.

What You’ll Do:

• Collaborate with engineers, designers and a product manager to deliver impactful tools for coaches and players
• Build and maintain robust, scalable backend systems that support Veo’s growing platform
• Contribute to the full product lifecycle - from ideation and design to development, deployment, and refinement
• Participate in architectural decisions and design discussions that shape the long-term direction of the platform
• Ensure performance, security, and reliability in the systems you own
• Contribute to a healthy engineering culture through code reviews, mentoring, and technical guidance
• Support a consistent, high-quality delivery pace in partnership with the frontend team and product manager

What You Could Bring:

• 5+ years of hands-on software engineering experience, ideally in a product-led environment and solid experience with backend technologies like Python and Django
• A drive for building products that solve real problems and bring value to users
• A growth mindset, focused on continuous improvement and learning, paired with a genuine interest in mentoring others and fostering a culture of shared growth
• A sense for trade-offs in architecture, with a pragmatic approach to decision-making
• An eye for clean, maintainable code and a strong grasp of what “good” looks like in production
• A thoughtful attitude toward testing, CI/CD, and owning the quality of what you ship
• Comfortable working across the stack, with curiosity for new tools and technologies.
• A collaborative approach and ease in partnering across functions like Product and Design
