About the role

The Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) team can provide you with the opportunity to collaborate, build, and operate a suite of massive-scale, integrated cloud services in a broadly distributed, multi-tenant cloud environment. OCI is committed to providing the best cloud products that meet the needs of our customers, who are tackling some of the world’s biggest opportunities.

We offer unique opportunities for smart, hands-on engineers with the expertise and passion to solve difficult problems in distributed, highly available services and virtualized infrastructure. Our engineers have a significant technical and business impact at every level by designing and building innovative new systems to power our customers' business-critical applications.

As a member of the OCI for OpenSearch technologies like PostgreSQL, OpenSearch, Redis, Cassandra, etc., you will have the unique opportunity to help realize the Oracle cloud vision of building the next-generation cloud from the ground up, as well as work with the latest PostgreSQL open-source project codebase. We value self-initiated systems engineers with a passion for learning, building, deploying, and operating infrastructure services globally and those who welcome the challenges at scale, all while being part of cloud operations with the autonomy to structure your own journey.

As an SDE on the PostgreSQL team, you will have the opportunity to:

  • Design architectures and create a new service that operates reliably at an extremely large scale.
  • Evaluate and improve the security of the deployed system.
  • Identify the overall behavioral characteristics of the service and define and measure key performance indicators (KPIs)
  • Utilize a deep understanding of the service to troubleshoot issues and define mitigations.

This position combines systems engineering, automation engineering, and network operations. If you are a curious problem solver who values simplicity, is comfortable with ambiguity, and is excited to learn, you will be a great fit!
