Job Description
The University of Nevada, Las Vegas invites applications for Assistant Director, Catering Operations
ROLE of the POSITION
This Position exists to act as a bridge between the Director of Catering Sales/Catering Sales Manager and the client to ensure successful event execution. Specifically they will assist in planning the operational components of all catering events, to include scheduling staff, to maximize efficiency while delivering excellent customer service, overseeing the back of the house working operations, and the service of food. Along with the Director of Catering Operations, they will be responsible for the front of the house event running of the Catering Department.
When appropriate and in the absence of the Director of Catering Operations, the Assistant Director of Catering Operations will meet alongside the Director of Catering Sales/Catering Sales Manager with the client to obtain a thorough understanding of the client’s event needs & wishes. Based on their event experience they will offer expert operational advice to enhance event outcome, while building trust with the client so they feel comfortable that their event will result in a successful conclusion. Advance planning, and extensive communication, will then be required to ensure that each event is properly and correctly set up, on time, with all necessary items. Additionally, the position will be responsible for analysis of all events over a given time period to schedule staff for maximization of employee hours to maintain a profitable labor percentage; process banquet checks for client signature; oversee cleaning and maintenance of all meeting rooms, catering equipment, ordering and cleaning of house linens & skirting; and order soft drinks, bottled water, and beer as per event BEO (Banquet Event Order).
Finally, this position will conduct inventory of all catering property, ensure that all catering areas/equipment are sanitized and cleaned for future events, and ensure that all COVID, Health Department, and TAM requirements are ready and being adhered to by staff.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
This position requires a Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university as recognized by the United States Department of Education and/or the Council on Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA) or an Educational Equivalency at a ratio of 1:1 and a minimum of two (2) years comparable professional experience. Credentials must be obtained prior to the start date.
