The Boeing CompanyBoeing Commercial Airplanes (BCA) Flight Deck Design is seeking an engaged and motivated Mid-Level (Level 3) or Senior (Level 4) Flight Deck Design Electronics Engineer to join a team of highly skilled engineers that are passionate about working on the next generation Flight Deck Electronics for our Everett, WA and/or Renton, WA locations. We are looking for someone to apply their technical expertise, leadership skills, and commitment to quality to positively impact the design of our Flight Decks from initial design development, test, certification, delivery as well as solving production and in-service fleet issues. The Flight Deck Design team defines the cockpit environment for all Boeing Commercial aircraft. We integrate with Flight Crew Ops, Pilots and our customers to ensure we deliver best in class Flight Decks that improves safety and addresses the needs of the Flight Crew.
As a member of a multi-disciplinary team, you will use your leadership, creativity and problem-solving skills to address a diverse range of engineering issues and fully integrate final design solutions. Engineers in this position are expected to independently work assignments,
collaborate with teammates, and receive tasking from a lead engineer.
Primary responsibilities:
- Performs the following tasks for managers on the executive payroll: Coordinates and processes domestic and international business travel arrangements, monitors designated business traveler's logistics, generates expense reports and assists in reconciling corporate credit card charges to ensure timely and accurate reimbursement and verifies payments to corporate credit cards.
- Leads work with internal customers and suppliers to develop and document component and detail design efforts, complex mechanical and electrical system requirements using analytical and technical skills, and thorough documentation within schedule and cost constraints, create design solutions using model-based engineering software and numerical analysis.
- Leads cross functional technical coordination internally and externally to Boeing with the following, but not limited to manufacturing, Crew-ops, airplane safety, Supply Chain Management, BCA Systems Software, Suppliers, Airline Customers, Regulatory Agencies, and other interfacing teams.
- Identify problems, perform root cause corrective analysis, and implement corrective actions.
- Provide expeditious support to the Factory and Flight Line to resolve emergent issues.
- Develop Interface Control Documents (ICD) and Specification Control Documents/Drawings (SCD)
- Develop requirements and design consideration which best supports program objectives and requirements and impacts on data reliability and integrity, fault trees analysis (FTAs), System Safety Analysis (SSA).
- Leads and coordinates work to analyze and translate requirements into system architecture, hardware and software designs, and interface specifications.
- Identifies problems, performs root cause corrective analysis, and implements corrective actions utilizing the Boeing Problem Solving Methodology (BPSM).
- Monitors supplier performance to ensure system integration and compliance with requirements.
- Resolves issues and problems concerning and provides other support of fielded hardware and software over the entire product lifecycle.
- Research technology advances for potential application to company business needs.
Design Responsibilities:
- Control Panels, Light plates, Switches, Annunciators, Circuit Breakers, Indicators and Equipment.
- Flight Deck Area and Task Lighting.
- Flight Deck Access System.
Basic Qualifications (Required Skills and Experience):
- Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited course of study in an Engineering discipline.
- 5+ year(s) of experience using excellent verbal and written communication skills to communicate with leaders and colleagues in a multi-skill operations environment.
- 5+ year(s) of experience with managing equipment throughout the entire life cycle of product development from Requirement development/validation, Proposal (RFP/RFQ), Statement of Work (SOW, SCD), Program Gate Reviews (PDR/CDR, SO1 to SO4), Qualification Testing (DO-160) FAA Certification compliance, and delivery.
- Working knowledge and experience developing/applying aviation related system safety analysis methods such as System Safety Risk Assessments, Fault-tree Analysis (FTA), Functional Hazard Assessment (FHA) and Safety Assessment Report (SAR).
