Job Description:  

This is an advanced technical position developing complex projects in the Bridge Program. 

Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:

  • Developing plans for bridges projects, 
  • Performing quantity and cost estimates, 
  • Designing horizontal and vertical alignments and approaches, and 
  • Mentoring and training of less experienced technicians. 

The work may also include the development of Preliminary Design Reports, routine projects, and the development of Standard Details. This position will also serve as a backup to the Program's primary construction Contract Specialist, performing cost estimates and bid analyses, assembling contract packages, and organizing standard Special Provisions, among other related duties. Work is performed in a team environment that includes Project Managers, Designers and other Technicians. Advanced knowledge and experience in bridge structural detailing and proficiency in the use of MicroStation and OpenRoads Designer are required. 

To be minimally qualified for this position candidates must provide evidence of the following experience:

Eight (8) years of experience in engineering -OR- a Bachelors Degree in Engineering or a related technical field and four (4) years of engineering experience -OR- an Associate Degree in Engineering or a related technical field and six (6) years of experience in engineering.
