SUMMARY

This is advanced professional and technical work analyzing, designing, implementing and maintaining departmental automated/computerized systems.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

Depending on the area of assignment:

Analyzes, designs, identifies, prioritizes, and resolves reported problems, including data, account administration, email, desktop, and application issues.

Evaluates hardware/software needs and training/documentation.

Designs, implements, and administers automated/computerized systems, such as SCADA, Outage Management, EMS, Geographic Information Systems, computer-aided dispatch systems, and work management and tracking systems.

Performs needs assessments at the departmental level.

Produces data, information, and reports.

Corrects program errors or makes modifications to departmental automated/computerized systems by revising coded instructions or altering the sequence of operations.

Communicates with vendors to evaluate new hardware and software solutions, and to discuss existing problems and issues.

Performs in-house technical training for users.

Develops and writes computer programs for the input and retrieval of specific documents, data, and information.

Installs and maintains hardware systems specific to the assigned department.

Configures departmental software applications and servers to ensure high availability.

Design user interfaces, applying graphic and creative artistic skills

Attends work on a continuous and regular basis.

NON-ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

May require on-call responsibilities.

May require after-hours and weekend responsibilities.

Performs other related duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential job function satisfactorily.  Below are the required education, experience, knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the essential functions.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with major course work in data communications, computer sciences, computer programming, information science, networks, or system engineering, and three years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of training and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
