On a day-to-day basis the successful candidate will support the delivery of multiple strategic projects for public and private sector clients by leading sustainability and climate change resilience scope. The focus of this role will be delivering climate change vulnerability and risk assessments in buildings and infrastructure. You will work as one of the Climate Change and Sustainability (CC&S) specialists within Mott MacDonald’s East Unit Advisory team with the following responsibilities:
- Manage climate resilience and sustainability projects for a range of public and private sector clients, with a focus in the Northeast (New York City and Boston).
- Lead the technical delivery of climate change vulnerability and resiliency scope. This includes implementing best practice guidance and methodologies for climate change resiliency, as well as adopting client-specific approaches to the assessment and mitigation of climate change risk.
- Support transportation, water, buildings, and other infrastructure planning and design projects, including coordinating climate mitigation, risk, and resilience processes and applying related tools / frameworks (e.g., Envision and LEED). Contribute to Sustainability Management Plans for major infrastructure projects.
- Support client managers and directors to engage with clients to identify opportunities to support with climate change resiliency scope.
- Contribute to the development of proposals, both as part of a wider team including engineering colleagues as well as our own Climate Change team-led proposals.
- Manage projects and project tasks in alignment with Mott MacDonald policies and procedures. This includes supporting project managers and teams to deliver high quality work and exercise sound commercial awareness.
- Participate in the wider global community of advisory and climate change consultants within Mott MacDonald, collaborating with colleagues across all Regions.
- Mentor and coach junior colleagues to build their capabilities and commercial awareness.
- Together with others in the team, provide thought leadership in the market, prepare materials for and attend industry events, and engage with our clients to share our collective experience.
Candidates who can demonstrate the following skills and experience will be considered for the role:
- A post-secondary degree and 5-7 years of career experience related to climate change resilience, sustainability, engineering, and/or infrastructure (including social infrastructure) development.
- Significant experience of delivering Climate Change Vulnerability Assessments in the Northeast. Local experience in Boston and New York City strongly preferred.
- Experience working with climate data (including both FEMA and state/local climate data).
- GIS experience preferred.
- Active Envision Sustainability Professional (ENV SP) and/or LEED Accredited Professional (LEED AP) preferred.
- Experience working with various traditional and alternative delivery mechanisms in infrastructure, including Design-Build and Progressive Design-Build preferred.
