Overview

The Department of Corrections is seeking a highly skilled, self-motivated individual to fill the role of Business Application Support Specialist. This position provides first level support for systems that support the operations of the department. That support entails evaluating and prioritizing requests, determining appropriate actions, and providing resolutions. This position's initial focus will be supporting the department's Risk Intervention Services network infrastructure within our correctional facilities. 

Other responsibilities of this role include:

• Administer and manage Active Directory (AD) services, including user and group account management, policy enforcement, and directory maintenance.
• Troubleshoot and collaborate with vendors to resolve network-related issues, including connectivity problems, bandwidth utilization, and network hardware failures.
• Coordinate with the Internet Service Provider (ISP) vendor to ensure stable and reliable internet connectivity.
• Create reports related to user level access and utilization.

This role requires excellent problem-solving and analytical abilities, a keen eye for detail, and the capacity to manage multiple priorities effectively. Strong written and verbal communication skills, proficiency with the Microsoft 365 Suite, and the ability to work collaboratively are essential. This position will require frequent travel to correctional facilities.

Experience with Active Directory, Ivanti ticketing system, writing data queries in SQL, Microsoft Visio, Azure DevOps, and continuous improvement processes/approaches is preferred.

Environmental Factors

Duties are performed largely in a standard office setting. Private means of transportation should be available for required travel. The role involves intensive interaction with departmental staff to include officials who may advocate strongly for their programs. Must be able to communicate and interact directly with employees at varying degrees of system skill sets as well as varying levels of authority. Conflicting priorities and operational problems may be anticipated; competing priorities and tight deadlines are a frequent occurrence.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree AND two (2) years technical level experience working in a business environment using an enterprise application system.

 

OR

 

Associates degree in business or computer science AND four (4) years experience at a technical level working in a business environment using an enterprise application system.

 

OR

 

Six (6) years experience at a technical level working in a business environment using an enterprise application system.
