Description of the Center and its Flagship Projects
TexCEP is a center that houses cutting-edge, collaborative, community-engaged, and application-driven health and education research. The mission of TexCEP is to support and conduct high-quality applied research, disseminate evidence-based information and build capacity among scholars to improve access to optimal health and educational opportunities for all in Texas, the United States, and globally. TexCEP hosts leading researchers in the fields of health and education, and their projects. Two flagship projects housed in TexCEP are THRIVE and LONESTARP3. These large research and translational initiatives require unique program coordination support.
Texas Education THRIVE, a comprehensive, evidence-based educational initiative through the College of Education at UT Austin, translates research into action by providing engagement, support, professional development and networking resources to school districts across Texas. Geared toward both early and mid-career teachers, THRIVE is committed to implementing research-proven strategies for mentorship and professional learning that optimize the likelihood of successful and productive careers in education for the betterment of all Texas children. THRIVE is composed of seven district and university partners, nine donors, and five TEA Mentor Program Allotments.
LONESTARP3 (Education Research Practice Policy Partnership) conducts collaborative research, supports the translation of results to decision-makers at multiple levels, and builds capacity to improve systems and outcomes for all Texas students. LONESTARP3 is a statewide network that brings multiple perspectives together—inviting researchers, practitioners, and policy advocates to work together. LONESTARP3’s partners design, generate, and translate research into accessible and actionable solutions. This project’s collaborative approach produces research with clear and immediate use in both classroom teaching and policymaking. TexCEP is the hub for a network of 11 LONESTARP3 members — colleges of education, education nonprofits and education systems based in communities across Texas.
THRIVE’s and LONESTARP3 funds are currently managed through multiple respective accounts, which require specialized administrative coordination support to ensure successful program implementation and research activities for these two flagship TexCEP projects.
