About the role

We have an exciting opportunity to join our team with Regions Hospital as a Per Diem Trauma Nurse Clinician (TNC). This position is a vital and integral part of the trauma team and works under the direction of the Trauma and Burn Program Leadership, this is a busy fast paced smaller department, our culture reflects teamwork, collaboration, and a very flexible environment. Our trauma nurse clinicians have been nurses with the organization for 15+ years.

This position is responsible for the clinical case management and care coordination of the trauma patient. Vital to this position is strong communication with the pre-hospital, primary, and referral providers and prompt identification relating to trauma performance improvement activities on a concurrent basis. Education and injury prevention are also key components of the role of the TNC. 

Responsibilities include:

  • Ensuring that all of the injuries and consultants have been identified.
  • Creating action plans
  • Coordination based on the progression of the plan of care.

Work schedule: On-Call Day Shift

Required Qualifications:

Education:    Completion of an associate, Baccalaureate or Master’s degree program in Nursing. New graduate RNs must have a bachelor's or master’s degree in nursing. Associate's prepared RNs must have at least one year of RN experience.

Experience:   Two years clinical nursing experience in a hospital setting.

Licensure/Registration/ Certification:                 

•Current MN RN licensure

•Current certification (within 6 months of employment) of pediatric trauma course such as Emergency Nursing Pediatric Course (ENPC), Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS), or equivalent.

•Current Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) or equivalent within 6 months of employment.

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience:   ICU and or emergency medicine experience preferred.

Experience in caring for injured patients preferred.

Licensure/Registration/ Certification:

Specialty certification in Certified Critical Care Nurse (CCRN), Certification in Emergency Nursing (CEN) or Certified Pediatric Emergency Nurse (CPEN) preferred.

Specialty course certification in Fundamental Critical Care Support (FCCS) or Pediatric Fundamental Critical Care Support (PFCCS) preferred.
