The Mechanical Repair and Assembly Technician is responsible to service, maintain, perform warranty repairs and overhaul rolling stock and Infrastructure equipment. As part of the maintenance team, you will ensure the equipment is serviced and maintained in a safe, efficient and cost effective manner whilst constantly seeking to improve quality.
Organizational Reporting
- Direct report line to Production Team Leader or Production Manager depending on scope.
Main Responsibilities:
- Disassemble and clean incoming broken components.
- Evaluate cause of failure, recommend remedy for repair and document results.
- Assemble new product or repair broken unit.
- Test unit to meet requirements and specifications.
- Rework units if necessary.
- Paint Components.
- Data entry of consumed material and labor.
- Provides documentation for both incoming outgoing material.
- Observes all safety rules and practices.
- Performs cycle counts or Physical Inventory when required.
- Performs special projects upon request.
- Maintains Good Housekeeping skills.
- Performs any other duties as directed by Supervisor.
- Work as directed by and in co-operation with the Team Leaders and Production Management Team in order to:-
- Adhere to and work within Quality Systems to the current applicable standards.
- Work as part of a team, complete or assist in any of the team's activities to ensure work is completed on time to specification.
- Understand and follow work instructions, Standard Operating Sheets and Task Sequencing.
- Apply Special Processes.
- Support secondary level fault finding as and when required.
- Use work related IT Systems as required including MMIS/SES to record progress of operations and status of issues.
- Accurately report status of operations, complete Work Checklists and Work Orders with the required level of detail including completion time.
- Make suggestions and recommendations for productivity improvements working with the team leaders and Industrial Team.
- Maintain 5S good housekeeping of all related work areas in accordance with set standards.
- Be capable of accepting training in other skills and carry out duties, e.g. forklift, road vehicle driving (if certified), attend call-outs and breakdowns if required.
- Be capable of being re-trained in other activities/skills as required by the Production Management Team in order to support the Operations as required.
- Understand and abide to safety notices, rules and regulations and follow safe working practices compliant with local standards.
- Comply with all EHS protection and AZDP measures.
- Completion of maintenance tasks according to schedule
