Description
The Boston College School of Social Work (BCSSW) is inviting applications for an Assistant Professor of Global Practice beginning September 1, 2025.
As one of the nation’s top schools of social work, BCSSW is dedicated to pursuing pioneering research, scholarship, and practice to tackle some of the most complex social problems at home and around the world. BCSSW prepares scholars and social work professionals to create transformative, evidence-based interventions to improve the most vulnerable lives, focusing on training leaders to advance equity, justice, and inclusion in diverse communities across the globe.
Global Practice Expertise in Working with Children, Youth, and Family Systems
We are particularly interested in appointing an assistant professor of global practice with experience and expertise in humanitarian assistance, and child and social protection in the context of migration, displacement, or strengthening government systems and programs. We are seeking candidates with a background in social work and experience in humanitarian emergencies, multilateral agencies, and/or international nongovernmental organizations. Candidates in the practice position will be expected to teach in the MSW program and strengthen and expand our global practice course offerings. We seek candidates who can mobilize their practice networks to expand the opportunities for our global practice MSW students. There will also be opportunities to develop global practice courses and internships for undergraduate students at Boston College.
Qualifications
Qualified applicants will have an MSW degree and at least five years of post-MSW practice experience in global settings.
