This critical role provides high-level leadership, oversight, and innovation in the operation, maintenance, repair, and the stormwater infrastructure within unincorporated Sarasota County and the City of Sarasota.As the Senior Manager, you’ll be a key member of the department’s leadership team—building community trust, driving operational excellence, and fostering a culture of innovation and service.

About the Position
What You’ll Do:
Lead and inspire a team responsible for essential public infrastructure and services.
Develop and manage annual budgets, resources, and contracts to support divisional operations.
Serve as a strategic partner to the Stormwater Director, department managers, county administrators, and elected officials.
Promote collaboration, transparency, and team building across departments and with the community.
Champion customer service and build strong public and interdepartmental relationships.
Guide union negotiations and employee engagement with a focus on culture, morale, and development.
Drive compliance with legal, regulatory, and accreditation standards (APWA).
Represent the department in leadership meetings and public forums as needed.

Work Hours:
Standard business hours are Monday - Friday, 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.
About You
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Public Administration, Business Management or a related field AND eight (8) or more years of related experience
- - OR - Master’s Degree in one of the above-mentioned fields AND six (6) or more years of related experience.
- Four (4) or more years of supervisory/management experience.
- A valid Florida Driver’s License is required at time of hire.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Advanced professional certification highly desirable.
- Effective Communication Skills.
- Experience with transportation and stormwater operations, maintenance and related equipment.
- Experience managing operating budgets.
- Effective communication and public speaking skills.
- Ability to manage people and projects with a focus on customer service, innovation and productivity. Excellent judgement and discretion.
- Management of labor union employees.
Subject to Passing Substance Screening: This position is subject to passing a pre-employment substance screening. An applicant who fails to pass a required drug screening test shall be disqualified from employment for a period of five (5) years.
Physical Demands: Must frequently lift and/or move more than 50 pounds.
