THE ROLE:
The position is responsible for providing rights and production compliance services, as directed by Manager, Global Rights, Production Compliance, to internal groups, including A+E’s Content Production, Enhanced Production, and Digital Media Production teams on day-to-day production related matters. This Coordinator will obtain deliverables for short form and long form productions to secure, compile, submit and approve accurate rights bibles deliverables associated with production documents, as well as license agreements, and third-party licenses. The role will work closely with Manager to support compliance needs from creative and production personnel in content production. Additionally, this role will collaborate with the Global Rights, Rights Production Team. This team is dedicated to rights compliance which is critical for the linear exhibition and multi-platform sales of A+E’s content worldwide.
MORE ABOUT WHAT YOU’LL DO:
- Review license agreements (including music synchronization licenses, master recording licenses, composer agreements, photo licenses, footage releases), personal releases, location releases to ensure media rights are properly secured for A+E’s exhibition of content.
- Work with creative teams to obtain, review for accuracy, upload and submit production deliverables to Debut across the following: E&O insurance, conformed scripts, shot sheets, music cue sheets, etc.
- Perform a compliance check and coordinate with internal content creators and Production Clearance teams and confirm that all 3rd party footage, photo, audio, and music usage is accounted for and to cross check to ensure all licenses and invoices have been obtained for each asset.
- Be responsible for approving all rights bible submissions for assigned programs. Such approval will enable A+E Scheduling and Global Content Sales the ability to exhibit and sell programs without risk of lawsuits and business interruption.
- Work with Manager to update Airtable to track critical data and approved rights language.
- Assist Manager with other administrative tasks as needed.
- Escalate and quickly remedy any deficiencies in documents in Rights Bibles.
BASIC REQUIREMENTS:
- Minimum of 2 years’ experience working in a rights & clearances role or post production role that works with program deliverables.
- Experience reviewing and analyzing license agreements, personal releases, location releases, third party licenses (music, stills, stock footage) focused on production compliance at a broadcast or cable network, production company, film studio, television distribution company, entertainment law firm, or comparable business specializing in entertainment/media transactions.
- Understanding and working knowledge of linear and multiplatform media rights; basic understanding of copyright rules.
- Basic understanding of video production and compliance needs for production.
- Must have systems experience, media rights database experience and solid working knowledge of Excel and Airtable a plus.
