About the role

The Project Manager, Transformation Office plays a key role in supporting and delivering strategic initiatives across Hachette Book Group. This position combines project management, change management, and stakeholder engagement to ensure successful implementation of projects. This role is ideal for a professional with foundational project management and change management experience who is eager to grow their skills in driving cross-functional business transformation.  PROJECT DELIVERY
  • Partner with business leaders and project sponsors to define scope, goals, timelines, and deliverables for transformation projects.
  • Manage day-to-day project activities, track progress, and coordinate resources to ensure timely delivery.
  • Develop and maintain detailed project documentation, including project plans, risk logs, and status reports.
  • Facilitate cross-functional meetings, ensuring effective communication and alignment between teams.
  • Support prioritization of initiatives within the transformation portfolio based on strategic importance and resource capacity.
  • Prepare and deliver project updates for leadership, ensuring clear visibility into progress, challenges, and outcomes.
  • Lead project closure and lessons-learned reviews to continuously improve project management practices.

 

  • CHANGE MANAGEMENT
  • Apply structured change management approaches to support adoption of new systems, processes, or ways of working.
  • Develop communication, training, and engagement plans to support smooth transitions during change initiatives.
  • Identify stakeholder groups, assess change readiness, and manage resistance to change.
  • Track and report on adoption and benefits realization metrics.
  • Partner with HR, Communications, and functional leaders to embed new behaviors and processes.
CAPABILITY BUILDING & CONTINUOUS IMPROVEMENT
  • Champion project management and change management best practices across the organization.
  • Support the enhancement of transformation frameworks, templates, and tools for consistent delivery.
  • Contribute to fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
  • Help upskill colleagues in basic project management principles through informal coaching and knowledge sharing.
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE
  • 5–7 years of experience in project management, business transformation, or change management.
  • Strong knowledge of project management methodologies (e.g., PMI, Agile, or equivalent).
  • Working understanding of change management frameworks (e.g., Prosci ADKAR).
  • Proven ability to manage multiple concurrent projects or workstreams.
  • Strong communication, facilitation, and problem-solving skills.
  • Comfortable engaging with stakeholders at various organizational levels.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools, including Excel, PowerPoint, and MS Project.
  • PMP, CAPM, or Change Management certification preferred.
  • Experience in publishing, media, or a similar creative industry is advantageous.

Salary can vary based on a number of factors including skills, experience, and location — talk with your recruiter to learn more. There may be times that you will be required (or requested) to work overtime due to the nature of your role or exceptional workload issues or special projects.
