Principal Project Accountant

Job Overview: 

Perform general accounting activities on behalf of the Houston LNG/Downstream accounting group, specifically supporting the GPX Project.  The Principal Project Accountant will be responsible for performing general accounting activities as needed including cash management tracking, preparing journal entries, running reports, account reconciliations and related activities.
 

Key Tasks and Responsibilities:

• Weekly tracking of project cash including AR, AP and draft invoices
• Preparation of information needed to support internal and client cash management reporting
• Run daily/weekly system reports and summarize/review for issues related to project
• Preparation of journal entries, as required
• Perform bank account reconciliation throughout week and at month-end
• Monthly & special projects to analyze costs and accruals, as needed 
• Ensure compliance with financial policies and procedures, including US GAAP and Internal Controls (SOX)
   

Essential Qualifications and Education:

• Four-year accounting degree (Finance Degree with minor in accounting + experience is also acceptable)
• Ability to work in fast-paced and dynamic environment and deliver accurate results.
• Must effectively interface with clients, business associates and peers.
• 5-10 years relevant accounting experience in a large company environment with some of the experience on E&C projects
• Experience with customer billing in the Energy & Construction industry
• Knowledge of ERP accounting software (JD Edwards or Oracle Cloud software a plus)
• Strong Excel skills required
• Good verbal and written communication skills required
