Description

The Department of Accounting and Information Management (AIM) in the Haslam College of Business at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville (UTK), is accepting applications for a full-time, tenure track position for an assistant/associate professor in Information Management to begin August 1, 2025. The Department of AIM at UTK offers a diverse and intellectually stimulating environment.  We are at an exciting juncture, as we broaden and deepen our research programs and our information systems education (including our new graduate program in business cybersecurity). We seek a creative, energetic, forward-thinking scholar to help catalyze this growth. Applicants should have a strong commitment to excellence in research, teaching, and service.

Qualifications

Potential candidates must hold a doctoral degree with a specialization in information systems or other comparable degree by time of appointment and should demonstrate excellent teaching potential and have an ongoing program of substantive research in information systems. The ideal candidate will have a strong pipeline of research projects in process and/or an established record of top-tier publications and proficiency in teaching information systems topics (e.g., database systems, programming, analytics, systems controls, technologies used to support business processes, etc.).

Following are the qualifications that define associate and assistant professor designations at the University of Tennessee – Knoxville:

Associate professors are expected to

1-hold the doctorate or other terminal degree of the discipline, or to present equivalent training and experience as appropriate to the particular appointment
2-be good teachers
3-
have achieved and to maintain a recognized record in disciplinary research / scholarship /creative activity/ engaged scholarship
4-have achieved and to maintain a record of institutional, disciplinary, and/or professional service or outreach engagement
5-have normally served as an assistant professor for at least five years
6-
have demonstrated that they work well with colleagues and students in performing their university responsibilities

Assistant professors are expected to
