The Opportunity:

We're looking for a passionate Data Journalist and Visualization Specialist to join our dynamic team. This isn't just about charts and graphs. As a Data Journalist and Visualization Specialist, you will support a federal health client as they lead, coordinate, and execute the transformation of the public health data ecosystem. You will be part of a team responsible for visualizing complex data insights that drive strategic decision-making and work side-by-side with clients to ensure completeness and accuracy.  

In this role, you’ll apply advanced analytics techniques to mine large datasets, uncover relationships that often go unnoticed, and craft compelling narratives and visualizations for diverse audiences. Are you ready to help our clients meet their mission by unleashing the power of data?

You Have:

• 3+ years of experience using advanced analytical methods, storytelling methods, and data visualization tools to develop data-driven narratives  

• Experience with the D3.js library, including data binding, selections, transitions, and layout modules

• Experience with JavaScript frameworks and libraries, including React

• Experience with programming languages, including Python, R, or SQL, for data manipulation and analysis 

• Experience in data analysis, statistical modeling, and working with large datasets 

• Ability to create complex, interactive data visualizations using D3.js and React 

• Ability to simplify complex concepts and distill information into coherent and compelling narratives, making it accessible to a broad audience 

• Ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust or Suitability/Fitness determination based on client requirements

• Bachelor’s degree 

Nice If You Have:

• Experience working in public health 

• Knowledge of user research methodologies  

• Ability to be a self-starter, pay strict attention to detail, and multitask across multiple projects in a fast-paced environment 

• Ability to stay current with emerging data storytelling best practices
