About the role

This is a manager-level position responsible for running the department’s employee relations daily functions. The Operations Manager will counsel employees regarding work-related issues and act as a liaison between employees and management to resolve issues and facilitate resolutions. The Operations Manager will understand and ensure compliance of three Collective bargaining agreements while supporting and enforcing Company/department policies, practices and protocols. Support and oversee the daily functions of the facility’s front office. 

Job duties include but are not limited to the following:

  • Able to handle sensitive and confidential matters with the utmost integrity. 
  • Position will oversee and support the laundry scheduler on meeting daily and weekly deadline assignments, employee concerns and/or disputes regarding, PTO, vacation, holidays, holiday bids, work shift bids and vacation checks while adhering to all three collective bargaining agreements. 
  • Oversee two front office administrative assistants ensuring accuracy of payroll and timely reporting. Adhere to deadlines on a daily, weekly, bi-weekly and monthly basis. Investigate and resolve escalated payroll issues/concerns in a timely manner. Provide reports, process adjustments, assist in payroll investigations as needed. Provide reports, pay stubs, attendance records, clock in/outs, adjustments, sick pay to HR and union(s) as requested. 
  • Provide coaching and assistance to employees and management on work issues/challenges, policies and procedures, union contracts, interpretations, and employee relations matters. 
  • Manage employee relations issues, conflict resolution and investigations in a fair, equitable and consistent manner. 
  • Will support team compliance to company and department policies and procedures.  Position may be required to issue discipline for violations to those procedures.
  • Attends and participates in meetings not limited to: step one, grievance, union, negotiations and department.
  • Provide training such as harassment prevention, leadership and employee relations/complaint to reduce future complaints and liability. 
  • Process promotions, job changes, status, salary changes, terminations as needed. 
  • Maintains working relationship with union representatives and adheres to labor contracts by monitoring day to day implementation of policies concerning wages, hours and working conditions. 
  • Responsible for standard and electronic file maintenance, processing designated terminations, completion of separation of employment as requested. 
  • Issue discipline, suspensions, or separation of employment as needed. 
  • Ensure department is in compliance with all policies/procedures Company handbook and union contracts. 
  • Consistently demonstrate professionalism in communication skills, establish and maintain relationships with team members at all levels for the purpose of providing a culture where employees feel comfortable reporting potential violations or misconduct. 
  • Partner with property HR for support on complex or sensitive work or employee relations issues to ensure a fair and consistent enforcement of policies and practices. 
  • Required to work independently and prioritize duties with minimal supervision to meet deadlines. 
  • Develop and manage employee recognition programs. 
  • Coordinate employee engagement food/activity to build morale and productivity. 
  • Perform other job-related duties as requested.


Minimum Candidate Requirements

  • 3 years primary experience in Employee Relations
  • Union environment a plus. 
  • Excellent verbal and written communication
  • Excellent negotiation and conflict resolution skills
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Excellent time management skills with proven ability to meet deadlines
  • Ability to act with integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality
  • Ability to type 40-50 WPM
  • Strong computer skills including proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook. 
  • Must be bilingual to ensure strong communication and understanding with all employees. (English and Spanish)
