About The Role
The Licensing Associate is responsible for the development and management of domestic and international merchandise licensing programs with a focus on sales, marketing and administration. As Associate, you will communicate select franchise licensing strategy effectively to licensees, retailers, and other partners and ensure all activity and brand representation maximizes revenue and the franchise’s DNA.
Your contribution to the team will impact our goals of driving revenue, engaging fans, extending and protecting our brands, and being the partner of choice for IP owners in Japan! The success of the team drives the success of our 360 efforts (which include e-commerce, events, games, news, theatrical, and manga) which in turn makes Crunchyroll the north star of anime fans globally.
Location: Dallas
Our Dallas office is centrally located within the Metroplex, making it convenient and easily accessible for our team members from across the Dallas-Fort Worth Area.
About You:
You are a global thinker with at least 2 years consumer products background in licensing and business development!
- A proven track record of success in generating and growing revenue and long-term value.
- Experience in entertainment-oriented consumer products with a developing network of contacts.
- Motivated and pro-active approach; entrepreneurial attitude, but comfortable working within a structured environment.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with ability to sell ideas.
- An appreciation for anime and its fandom with an understanding of Japanese business culture.
- Must possess strong attention to detail.
- Experience reviewing and optimizing license commercial terms.
- Proactive and strong sense of ownership and accountability to assigned business/franchises.
- Ability to advise, create and present key business presentations including business reviews, franchise strategy plans, pitch decks.
- Japanese language proficiency is a huge plus.
- Ability to envision licensing opportunities for IP; gut for entertainment properties and merchandise/product potential
A day in the life of our Licensing Associate:
- Driving the Business/Sales – identifying and assessing new licensing product opportunities and partners, anticipating roadblocks and proactively taking measures to address them. Negotiate and review business terms and contracts. Assist in developing and execute licensing strategies and plans (target industries, categories, products and licensees) for multiple categories and multiple properties and actively manage key licensees to deliver results. Assist and own organization of Licensing documents such as licensee lists, pitch materials, assets. Participate and execute marketing activations and retail facing programs.
- Financial Planning - assist in forecast, royalty report documentation and soliciting data and forms from partners.
- Reporting - Ensure that monthly and quarterly reports are received from licensees and that all requested information is being provided. Assist Sales Manager and team with the compilation of data for internal reporting, including sell-thru, placement, and royalty revenue.
- Insuring Partner Compliance - Liaise with content partners and internal teams to approve product design, production, and promotion for products under license. Monitor existing partners to ensure active development, product innovation, marketing dates, revenue targets, and overall contract compliance.
- Collaborating with Legal - responsible for licensing contracts and proper accounting of revenue with Legal and Finance teams.
- Plan Events and Trade Shows – participate and assist with the planning and attendance of annual Licensing Summits, Licensing Show, Toy Fair and other trade shows and events as necessary. Ensure visibility of our licensed products during trade shows and Crunchyroll events.
