Job Description

The Controller has overall responsibility for the financial operations of Health Connect Partners (HCP).

Works closely with senior executives and management across the businesses, serving as the go to individual for HCP’s Finances.

Works closely with the other finance teams within Informa to identify and drive efficient performance and continual improvement in outputs, processes and systems. Works closely with Informa Divisional and Group finance team members and ensure all Informa Divisional and Group reporting and control requirements are met.

The candidate will ideally be based in our Nashville, Tennessee office but might be required to travel occasionally for events and other finance meetings across the United States.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Divisional Finance leadership

  • Responsible for 1 team member within Finance
  • Ensure the highest standards of leadership, professionalism and integrity are maintained
  • Ensure that communication with the Group team, within finance and across the business is effective and timely
  • Drive continual improvement, standardization and shared best practice in all areas of finance team and financial operations including reports, analysis, processes and systems used by the finance team
  • Agree and monitor objectives and personal development plans for direct reports.

Business level Controllership

  • Take responsibility for the application of and compliance to Group accounting policies and standards; provide guidance on relevant technical accounting treatments
  • Oversee the satisfactory performance of all day to day accounting operations including payroll (fixed assets, intercompany, journals- recurring, accruals, prepayments, provisions, cash and bank accounting etc)
  • Oversee the effective performance of all month end close tasks (managing posting periods, reviewing completion of reconciliations, closing of period closing task lists etc.) to quality, controls requirements and agreed close calendar
  • Provide required approvals (e.g. changes in Fixed Asset master data, verified general and recurring journal entries, review and release payroll posting entries etc.)
  • Lead the preparation of Divisional financial statements (B/S, P&L and cashflow) and other financial information e.g. weekly cash and sales reports
  • Manage the analytical review of Balance Sheet and P&L- movements, review of special items such as prior period, one off, deferred revenue, corporate recharges etc, calculation of key ratios; supporting the Business Unit leaders in identifying root causes for variances (price/rate, volume, overhead allocation) etc
  • Lead budgeting and re-forecasting processes for HCP, working with business leaders to understand changes in the businesses and submit monthly forecasts within agreed deadlines
  • Ensure key financial controls and reconciliations are in place

Functional

  • Liaising with Informa Divisional and Group finance team and local advisers on tax matters
  • Ensure all divisional tax compliance matters are monitored, controlled and delivered effectively
  • Support the Divisional Finance teams in tracking, managing and reporting on costs and working capital position
  • Work with the larger Informa Finance team on shared areas including tax, insurance, HR and benefits
  • Work with internal audit to resolve controls and process gaps and manage the risk register for the Division
  • Work with group auditors to ensure a satisfactory completion of year end audit of Division/BU financials

Qualifications

  • Accounting/Finance degree
  • CPA or other accounting credential
  • 3-5 years financial accounting experience
  • Experience of working acros
