What You Will Do:
Provide engineering support to field personnel to ensure the safe and efficient operation and maintenance of Southwest Region facilities.
Review Open-System Job Plans prepared by others, conduct risk assessments, and approve isolation plans for alternative isolation
Work with operations supervision, asset and equipment class managers, and subject matter experts (SME) to enter risks into the Risk Register and perform risk assessments
Provide support to US Core and Major Projects teams in developing and implementing projects affecting Southwest Region Operations, as well as documenting project deficiencies and leading project-acceptance by Operations.
For issues that require mitigation outside of the project management departments, manage engineering activities and support execution.
Represent Southwest Region and facilitate regional tasks associated with central programs (i.e. Depth of Cover, Exposures, Integrity, etc.)
Establish working relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
Work with company SMEs to address the engineering needs of the region, as well as continuously improve the company’s SME knowledgebase and standards.
Support Operations in specifying and requisitioning material
Collaborate with technical standards group to ensure engineering standards, equipment specifications, and engineering construction specifications meet U.S. regulatory requirements and reflect U.S. practices.
Participate in Region safety program and station and construction site audits.
Perform assigned duties during emergency response activities.
Assist Pipeline Maintenance Services, Maintenance, and Operations on technical and compliance issues.
Facilitate regional reviews for MOCs and support implementation as needed
Complete crossing load calculations, as needed, to ensure safety and integrity of below-grade assets
Who You Are:
You have the following education and experience:
Required:
Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Petroleum, Chemical, or Civil Engineering or equivalent from an accredited university or college.
Minimum 4 years general pipeline and/or terminal engineering or significant equivalent experience.
Preferred:
Ability to solve technical problems as they arise and make decisions on how a problem’s solution will impact the immediate problem and the system as a whole.
Ability to regularly shift between planned and unplanned activities while remaining effective.
Proven capability to prioritize and manage multiple assignments and meet established deadlines while managing stakeholder expectations.
Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in written form. This includes the ability to effectively interact with peers, internal stakeholders and equipment vendors. Strong written communications abilities, including good spelling and grammar are essential for this position.
Familiarity with and understanding of U.S. engineering and regulatory requiments
Working Conditions:
Office environment with approximately 10-25% overnight travel required.
