JOB PURPOSE: 

The ESL temporary lecturer teaches pre-undergraduate and pre-graduate international students in the English Language Center’s Intensive English Program. Temporary lecturers might also teach noncredit academic English skills courses, instruct short-term ESL programs, and assist in curriculum development. This is an in-person, on-campus position.

 ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Lesson Planning
  • Course instruction
  • Maintaining office hours or availability by appointment to meet with students
  • Grading
  • Attend English Language Center unit meetings

REMOTE WORK ELIGIBILITY: 

This position provides vital support to campus customers and requires the successful candidate be available to work on campus.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Education: Accredited TEFL/TESOL Certification 

Bachelor’s degree in Education, Arts & Sciences, Humanities, or related field 

Experience: Two years of experience teaching ESL at the Elementary (A1) through Upper Intermediate (C1) levels 

  • Effective written and verbal communication skills 
  • Established digital literacy skills 
  • Strong interpersonal skills 
  • Knowledge, understanding, and appreciation of diverse international cultures  
  • Available to teach up to five days per week, three to four hours per day 

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS: 

  • Master’s degree in TESOL/ESL, Applied Linguistics, or related field 
  • At least three academic years of experience teaching ESL in U.S. or abroad 
  • Experience working with English language learners in a university or community college setting 
  • Experience designing curricula and assessments 
  • Knowledge of Wyoming landscapes, cultures, and histories 

 

Salary Range: $3,000.00-$4,000.00 for Spring Semester
