The Data Research Intern for the Heritage Research Group (HRG) will play a key part in supporting artificial intelligence (AI) projects in conjunction with R&D activities. This position will report to the R&D Project Portfolio Manager and Principal Engineer.
Essential Functions
- Working with others to acquire data needed for AI modeling.
- Preparing and reformatting if necessary, data for AI modeling.
- Assist with running the AI modeling software – Citrine.
- Assist with preparing reports and presentations of the modeling results.
- Assist with experimental designs to further explore the AI models.
- Assist with benefit analyses of the AI models.
- Assist in the laboratory as needed.
- Additional duties and responsibilities as assigned, including but not limited to continuously growing in alignment with the Company’s core values, competencies, and skills.
- Required High School or Equivalent
- Preferred Bachelor's Degree : pursuing a degree in Engineering, Physics, Chemistry, Data Science, or Artificial Intelligence (major or focus).
Experience Qualifications
- Required 1+ years Internship, co-op experience, or university research.
Skills and Abilities
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Strong computer skills (MS Office)
- Team player
- Self-motivated
- Ability to work in a less structured, less hierarchical organization
- Practical and theoretical problem-solving ability
- Knowledge of statistics and modeling
Working Conditions/Physical Demands
- Must be able to wear personal protective gear most of the day – lab coats, safety glasses, gloves, hearing protection.
- Work is performed in an office environment and requires the ability to operate standard office equipment and keyboards. Must have the ability to lift and carry small parcels, packages and other items and walk short distances.

Intern pay is non-negotiable and is calculated based on current academic class standing $17/hour (Freshman) - $20/hour (Senior), etc.
