A material handler or warehouse associate oversees handling and moving various material to the assembly line. Ensure the assembler associate doesn’t run out of material and keeps the production running. As a material handler, you must have an aptitude for quality and an eye for detail. A top-notch material handler should have the ability to comprehend and follow detailed verbal and written instructions.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Unload materials and merchandise from incoming vehicles and stack them to assigned places
- Locate and move stock of products to pallets or crates for storage or shipment
- Identify damages and report shortages or quality deficiencies
- Transport raw materials to production workstations
- Inspect machinery to determine the need for repairs and guarantee safety by performing regular maintenance
- Keep updated records of inventory and activity logs
- Comply with company policies and legal guidelines
- Help maintain a safe and orderly environment of the facilities
Qualifications
QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED
- Proven experience as a forklift operator (certified preferred)
- High School Diploma or Equivalent
- Attention to detail
- Experience in an industrial / manufacturing setting preferred
- For safety reasons, you must be 18 years or older to be considered
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/ ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, see, talk and hear, may frequently lift, carry, push and pull materials and objects weighing up to 40 pounds, and heavier weights with proper equipment (included but not limited to bolds, tubs flanges and glue).
- This role stands for approximately 10-12 hours, regularly twisting and bending in a repetitive motion.
- Must be able to use an electric or manual pallet jack.
- Must also be able to follow rules for personal protection consisting of safety glasses (face shield, as needed), ear buds, high visual shirt/vest, gloves, and safety toe shoes/boots
- Must be open to learning additional secondary tasks within the department.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
The job may risk exposure to heat and/or cold and loud noise levels.
WORK ETHICS AND PROFESSIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES
- Attendance: Able to consistently demonstrate reliable, punctual attendance
- Must also be a team player for the other members within the Assembly department, cover breaks.
- Expected to take pride in their workspace by maintaining great housekeeping. (clean area, move empty pallet)
- Report any noncompliance, product issues, or incident to the Shift Supervisor
