Mission
Supervise the Site’s Tooling Technicians
Manage the maintenance of existing Molds and integration of new Molds to support flawless launch.
Define, & implement improvements resulting in measurable improvement of quality, costs and delivery
General:
Maintain Tools to ensure daily QCDM (quality, cost and delivery) requirements are met
Develop and Manage Tooling maintenance budget (Spare parts / labor and equipment needs).
Lead all Tooing TPM activity to include: Sourcing material/components, Prod. schedule, PM plans and documentation.
Lead continuous improvement / Kaizen activities (define/improve tool standards, generate Lessons Learned cards).
Creating and managing timelines to ensure each milestone through tooling development and repair is respected on new and existing molds.
Lead the Site’s tooling design approval process according to the Valeo standards & Procedures (IPROM / RAISE)..
Manage mold tuning loops / trials and define the ideal process windows to ensure reliability.
Apply and enforce Valeo safety procedures
Essential:
Analyze new product designs with R&D in order to ensure “Design for manufacturing” is integrated into new molds / tooling .
Involved in Molding FMEA, control plan, SPPC definition and tolerances application.
Investigate design to cost solutions, identify improvement in part to simplify the machining of tools, optimize molding conditions and reduce cost.
Define mold features, size and injection molding machine.
Establish request for quotation on mold design/repairs to include tool cost & timing estimation.
Manage mold tuning loops from Off Tool to Initial samples, manage the molding tryouts, define & duplicate the process window to ensure reliable and robust part validation & robust production.
Support tooling transfer and Start of Production at Valeo or supplier; Establish technical & maintenance book.
Evaluate toolmakers (current or new) and teach toolmakers about Valeo standards.
Optional Skills:
Validate 3D mold designs, analyze Moldflow simulation results, implement solutions in new molds.
Education/Training
What education and education level are necessary for the position?
Engineer degree or advanced technician in plastic engineering or mechanical engineer degree
Professional Experience
How many years of professional experience in a specific professional area are required for the position?
5 years in Mold design engineering in technical automotive parts or 10 years in injection molding in technical automotive part
