By joining us now, you’ll be part of a pioneering team shaping the future of robotics—working alongside world-class experts in a fast-moving, innovation-driven environment.</p><p></p><p>This Position reports to:</p>R&D Team Lead<p><br/> </p><h2>Your Role and Responsibilities</h2><p><br/><span>In this role, you will have the opportunity to make significant contributions to successful project outcomes in technological, software, and product development while also contributing to the generation of intellectual property (IP). Each day, you will act as a key technical contributor in Research and Development for perception-related product development, performance improvements, and maintenance of deployed systems. You will apply <span>your expertise to identify,</span> <span>propose, design, and</span> implement innovative solutions in computer vision and 3D perception for autonomous mobile robotics.</span></p><p><br/><i>- Work model: #LI-hybrid </i></p><p></p><p><span>This <span>role contributes to</span> the 3D Perception and Navigation Team <span>at Sevensense by</span> ABB, part of ABB Robotics, with teams in Spain and Switzerland. You will work closely with <span>Perception, Planning,</span> Control, Test, and Application Engineers to <span>develop, validate,</span> and improve <span>robust perception capabilities</span> for autonomous mobile <span>robots operating in</span> real-world customer environments. </span><br/> </p><p>You will be mainly accountable for:</p><ul><li><p><span>Leading the <span>design, production-grade implementation, and</span> validation of computer vision and 3D perception algorithms for <span>autonomous robots operating in</span> dynamic, real-world <span>environments with</span> a strong focus on robustness, maintainability, and product quality. </span></p></li><li><p><span>Ensuring fast development cycles and reliable releases by designing tools and performing experiments on real robots to <span>evaluate algorithm</span> performance and failure cases in realistic conditions. </span></p></li><li><p><span>Contributing <span>to the technical</span> direction in your area of expertise by proposing new ideas, creating hypotheses, and turning them into validated solutions with clear customer and business value, and contributing to intellectual property generation where relevant. </span></p></li><li><p><span>Supporting and mentoring junior engineers through technical guidance, knowledge sharing, and best practices in software development, experimentation, and documentation. </span></p></li></ul><h2></h2><p><b>Qualifications for the Role</b></p><p></p><ul><li><p><span>5+ years experience and</span> <span>strong expertise in</span> 3D perception or computer vision, ideally in product-oriented or industrial <span>environments, including</span> the development and validation of algorithms in <span>real-world scenarios. </span></p></li></ul><ul><li><p><span>Proven industrial software</span> engineering experience <span>in modern C++,</span> with solid working knowledge of Python. Experience with Rust is a plus. </p></li></ul><ul><li><p>Experience <span>with perception sensors</span> such as stereo cameras, RGB-D cameras, and/or 2D/3D lidars. </p></li></ul><ul><li><p>Experience working with ROS, Linux, and Git in a professional development <span>environment, together</span> with a strong understanding of experimentation, validation, and performance evaluation for robotic systems. </p></li></ul><ul><li><p>Familiarity with deep learning <span>frameworks, MLOps, planning</span> in robotic <span>navigation, embedded</span> Linux platforms such as Jetson, <span>and code optimization for compute limited</span> platforms is a plus. </p></li></ul><ul><li><p>Ability to solve complex technical problems independently, <span>taking ownership</span> <span>of perception components</span> in a product-driven environment, <span>and collaborating effectively</span> across teams. </p></li></ul><ul><li><p>You are comfortable communicating in English.
