Overview

Collaborate with the coordination and execution of a diverse range of county 4-H/Youth summer activities and events, spanning from educational presentations to county fairs, livestock events, and the renowned 4-H Day Camp. Responsibilities encompass providing essential assistance and support to ensure the smooth organization and operation of these impactful initiatives.

Responsibilities

  • Facilitate Engaging Educational Programs: Lead and support various youth educational programs across selected sites in Emery County, fostering a dynamic learning environment that aligns with 4-H objectives.
  • Ensure Child Safety: Prioritize the safety and well-being of all participants by actively supervising children during activities and programs, implementing appropriate safety protocols, and swiftly addressing any concerns or emergencies.
  • Serve as an Educational Resource: Act as a knowledgeable resource person for participants, offering guidance, answering questions, and providing educational support to enhance their learning experience.
  • Participate in Training: Attend relevant training sessions to enhance professional development, gain new skills, and stay updated on best practices in youth education and program management.
  • Maintain Documentation: Complete and submit accurate records of program participation, evaluations, timesheets, and travel reimbursement in a timely manner as required by the county director, ensuring efficient program administration.
  • Collaborate with County Director: Work collaboratively under the guidance of the county director, following their directives and contributing to the overall success of the summer programs.
  • Flexibility and Adaptability: Be flexible and willing to take on additional duties or responsibilities as assigned by supervisory staff, contributing to the smooth and effective operation of the summer programs.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Availability during the Emery County Fair, 4-H day camp, and junior livestock show is mandatory.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with youth.
  • Demonstrated ability to interact successfully with youth 5-18 years of age.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Valid Utah driver’s license to perform essential job responsibilities, such as driving university vehicles and transporting materials 
  • Job offer is contingent upon the successful completion of a background check 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Good written and oral communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead groups and to plan, organize, evaluate, manage, resolve conflicts, and delegate details associated with program management.
  • Ability to work as a team member with other professionals.

    Advertised Salary

    $20.00 per hour

    Employees work indoors and are protected from weather and/or contaminants, but not, necessarily, occasional temperature changes.  The employee is regularly required to sit and often uses repetitive hand motions. The employee is frequently required to reach with hands and arms and may lift and/or move up to 10 pounds. 

     

    Outdoors, incumbents may not be protected from weather conditions and may be exposed to extreme heat and extreme cold. Additionally, indoor or outdoor work environments may include being confined or in narrow spaces for periods of time. The incumbent may also be exposed to loud noises or vibrations from equipment, and conditions that may affect the respiratory system, such as fumes, odors, dusts, mists, gases, and poor ventilation. Bending, crawling, and crouching may be required. Incumbents may be required to lift, push, and/or pull objects up to 50 pounds and be required to walk and/or stand for long periods of time.
