Purpose

The Associate Director of Teaching and Learning leads initiatives within OnRamps to ensure quality implementation of OnRamps courses through effective pedagogical practice, instructional support systems, and intervention in collaboration with educators, coaches, and district leaders. The Associate Director will lead the design, implementation, and evaluation of professional learning experiences that elevate instructional practices across OnRamps. It requires deep expertise in educational psychology, curriculum theory, pedagogical content knowledge, with a strong foundation in K–12 teaching and administrative experience.

Responsibilities

  • Leads the OnRamps professional learning and development model which include institutes,  conferences, systems, and support structures that ensures OnRamps Instructors have the curriculum and pedagogical skills and knowledge to implement OnRamps courses with fidelity.  Applies current policy and research in teaching and learning at the state and national level to recommend improvements and provide input for the future of OnRamps in alignment with the strategic plan.

  • Leads initiatives and projects related to professional learning in alignment with OnRamps strategic priorities. Projects can include professional learning offerings for non-OnRamps instructors, district leaders, district PLCs, and more.   Develops data-driven retention strategies based on current research.

  • Leads the learning and development of pedagogical content knowledge for OnRamps internally and externally.  Ensures pedagogical practices are modeled and practiced by OnRamps so instructors implement with fidelity in alignment to the Innovative Pedagogy Pillar.  Leads projects to develop high quality learning material for instructors.

  • Applies continuous improvement principles to direct and enhance systems related to the facilitated network of OnRamps instructors through Professional Learning Institutes, Virtual Conferences, Mentor Program, and Communities of Practice to promote online community of learning and knowledge exchange.

  • Leads the development and improvement of coaching frameworks and systems of support and intervention that can be consistently used to effectively meet the needs of OnRamps Instructor populations. Leads the development of supports and resources for internal staff and other support staff who engage in mentoring and coaching functions with OnRamps Instructors. Aligns support resources to ensure student engagement, implementation pacing, student submission, and course performance. 

  • Applies standard evaluation procedures to analyze data and monitor, evaluate, and document program outcomes through recurring issue tracking and reporting. Utilizes data to apply principle of continuous improvement to OnRamps Instructor experience, student learning, and special projects.

Required Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in Curriculum and Instruction, education, or related field.

  • Three or more years with administrative leadership experience at a K-12 district in Texas.

  • Experience in creating and facilitating in-person and online professional development.

  • Three or more years leading professional learning events or training educators.

  • Exceptional written and verbal skills, customer service skills, with the ability to engage multiple internal and external stakeholders with decorum and tact.

  • Ability to communicate technical information to lay audiences using a respectful, client-focused approach.
