AVP - Software Engineering- Legal Case Management System, Hampton Roads, Hybrid

Position Summary: 

Manages the vendor who will develop and support the Legal Case Management software (Q-Law) and create new features and capabilities. Defines road maps and implements strategic plans for development and building out the current legal case management system (Q-Law). Works with the Legal Recovery Leadership team and leads in the eventual migration over to a new, more advanced legal case management system. Responsible for managing the vendor and software engineering team responsible for the software buildout/enhancements as well as the eventual migration over to the new legal case management software. Manages and leads the outsourced software engineering team, facilitates team meetings, identifies, resolves and escalates any IT related issues. Creates and executes project work plans, Determines identifies resources needed and ensures that PRA’s development methodology and project standards are adhered to. Responsible for the overall Legal Recovery software migration strategy, including the selection of the new legal recovery software and providing vision and leadership in regards to projects and policies,

Professional Experience/Qualifications:

• 10+ years of related IT Software Development experience
• 5+ years of Management experience
• 3-5 years of experience with Vendor Management, associated with software development
• 2-3 years + Legal Case Management system expertise (preferred)
• 3-5 years of experience with cloud-based technologies
• Software Engineering / Application Development – Expert
• Cloud Technologies – Advanced – Azure cloud preferred
• Agile Methodologies - Advanced•
• Software Engineering Practices – Advanced
• Oracle, Microsoft SQL Server, .Net C# and Informatica ETL – Intermediate
• Ability to strike the right balance between technology and business considerations - Advanced
• Experience in budget development and adherence - Advanced
• Excellent planning and organizational skills - Advanced
• Bachelor’s degree in software engineering or similar field, or a demonstrable equivalent combination of formal education, on-the-job training, and/or work experience

• Responsible for the support and enhancements of the Legal Recovery System
• Leads the migration of the new Legal Recovery System. Leverages new platform for the implementation of new decision management capabilities replacing existing legacy application. 
• Accountable for leadership and oversight of the delivery of total solutions to the client / user / customer. Ensures all impacted parties are aware of any service-related incidents and ensures timely resolution.
• Accountable for reliability, scalability performance, and cost of the Applications related components.
• Effectively partners with Product Owners on prioritization and ensure delivery to plan.
• Develops and manages the overall budget, including resource, development, and non-project and/or project costs.
• Manages annual expenditures and results delivered by the teams within span of control. Balances competing delivery and resource demands across all projects and products in client portfolio.
• Identifies and removes barriers across teams and areas to ensure cooperative efforts between teams and divisions.
• Develops, maintains, and manages long-term relationships with the business and other customers. Manages customer expectations.
