About the role

The Senior Financial Analyst leads key financial processes, including forecasting, budgeting, and reporting, in collaboration with the Finance Director and cross-functional teams. This role drives the development of the Annual Operating Plan, integrates financial data from various systems, and provides strategic insights through financial analysis and reporting. Responsibilities include ensuring data accuracy, performing reconciliations, supporting business case development, and contributing to compliance activities such as Medicare cost reporting and year-end audits. The Senior Financial Analyst fosters collaboration across departments to improve financial processes and align financial strategies with organizational goals.

As a Senior Financial Analyst, you'll advance our life-saving work by performing the following job responsibilities:

Forecasting and Budgeting

  • Collaborates with the Finance Director to lead and manage periodic forecasting and budgeting processes, ensuring accuracy, alignment with organizational goals, and timely completion.
  • Leads the development and coordination of the Annual Operating Plan in collaboration with the Finance Director and leadership across the organization. Facilitates cross-departmental engagement, ensures alignment with strategic priorities, integrates input from key stakeholders, and delivers a comprehensive plan to guide organizational financial decision-making.
  • Plays a key role in the selection, implementation, and optimization of a new planning tool, ensuring it meets organizational needs and enhances efficiency in budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis processes.
  • Ensures seamless integration and alignment of the forecasting tool with existing accounting and payroll structures. Establishes workflows and processes to maintain data consistency, accuracy, and compatibility across systems, enabling robust financial planning and reporting.

Reporting and Analysis

  • Prepares comprehensive Monthly, Quarterly, and Annual financial reports, including Income Statements, Balance Sheets, Cash Flow statements, Cost Center performance, Salary/Payroll data, and other critical financial metrics.
  • Leads the development of periodic financial analysis and commentary, providing actionable insights to support strategic decision-making.
  • Ensures the accuracy and integrity of financial reports by integrating data from diverse sources, including the Electronic Medical Record System (EMR), accounting software, and the Organ & Tissue database. Establishes robust validation processes and quality controls to uphold high standards of reliability and consistency in financial reporting.

Strategic Analytics

  • Tracks, reports, and analyzes key metric trends, developing and maintaining strategic scorecards to provide leadership with actionable insights into organizational performance and progress toward goals.
  • Assists in the development of business cases by delivering financial modeling, in-depth analysis, and strategic insights to guide decision-making and evaluate potential opportunities.
  • Provides expertise for ad-hoc analysis, delivering timely and accurate financial insights to address emerging questions and support critical initiatives.

Business Partnering

  • Builds strong partnerships across assigned functions and departments, fostering collaboration to align financial strategies with organizational objectives.
  • Collaborates cross-functionally to identify opportunities for improvement, streamline business and financial processes, and implement solutions that support the organization's strategic goals and operational efficiency.

Accounting and Financial Controls

  • Performs monthly reconciliations for bank accounts and investment portfolios, ensuring accuracy and timely reporting.
  • Provides general accounting support as needed, assisting with day-to-day functions to maintain smooth financial operations.
  • Supports other financial processes including Medicare cost reporting, year-end audit, and other special projects, contributing to the overall financial health and regulatory compliance of the function.

 

QUALIFICATIONS 

  • 5+ years of work experience in financial analysis plus a Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting or business is preferred. 
  • Combined education and experience equivalent to 9+ years of experience with responsibilities that includes executing forecasting, modeling, reporting and an understanding of GAAP.
  • Demonstrated and proven proficiency in spreadsheets, databases and financial software applications.
