Description
Job OverviewThe Sr. Consultant Employee Relations is responsible for conducting prompt, thorough, and impartial investigations into employee complaints and workplace concerns, including allegations of misconduct, harassment, discrimination, and policy violations. This role partners with district and campus leaders to provide guidance and support in employee documentation, ensures compliance with all local, state, and federal laws, and promotes a culture of integrity and accountability. The incumbent will support the District with all Human Resources (HR) services.
Position Description
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Oversight/Support/Leadership
- Conduct thorough, impartial investigations into employee complaints and allegations of misconduct, preparing a written summary of the investigation upon its conclusion
- Maintain confidentiality and proper handling of sensitive information
- Maintain thorough, accurate, and well-organized investigation files and records
- Handle difficult conversations with professionalism and empathy
- Identify trends and recommend proactive solutions
- Ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal reporting requirements
- Confer with district and campus leaders regarding employee performance concerns and assist with plans for improvement, documentation, and terminations, as necessary
- Review documentation received from district and campus leaders regarding employee performance, and provide guidance and assistance as needed
- Provide support and training for district administrators regarding all aspects of employee relations and human resources management
- Stay current on employee relations (ER) legislation and ensure district policies and information are updated accordingly
- Provide reports on compliance, employee relations, and other HR services, as requested, to ensure that goals are met
- Participate in professional development to maintain current knowledge of HR practices
- Assist with conflict resolution involving employees and responding to grievances
- Lead in developing and implementing HR processes and improvement plans
- Develop, interpret and implement policy and procedures regarding Human Resources
- Oversee annual revisions to the Employee Handbook and other legislative or policy updates, as necessary
- Assist with the coordination of Board of Trustees agenda items

- Bachelor's degree
- Master's degree preferred
- Professional Human Resources (PHR) Certification preferred
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in educational leadership, human resources leadership, or investigative experience
- Experience in planning and delivering employee relations initiatives
- Ability to assess potential problems and make sound judgment around issues that may have an adverse effect on the district from an employee relations perspective
- Comprehensive knowledge of human resources information managemen
