JOB DESCRIPTION:

The Pricing Specialist is responsible for assisting customers with RailServices spares quotes, including developing costing and pricing, as well as processing Purchase Orders. The Pricing Specialist is also responsible for supporting the costing and pricing of RailServices maintenance and modernization projects.

 

Essential Functions:

  • Maintain a safe, clean and healthy environment and ensure the compliance with company's rules and policies.
  • Must be able to comply with quality, product safety, and HSE rules, guidelines and regulations. Be energy conscious, if applicable.
  • Must understand and comply with applicable standards. ( i.e.: ISO 9001, ISO/TS 22163, ISO 14001, ISO 45001, ISO 50001, and CMMI).
  • Maintain and safeguard business records.

 

Additional Essential Functions:

  • Accurately cost and price spares quotes in a timely manner, including carbuilder, end customer, and inter-company
  • Monitor and manage customer procurement portals to ensure opportunities are not missed
  • Develop costing and pricing for overhaul and modernization projects
  • Manage the internal costing activities required to complete the quote and proposal process in a timely manner (as determined by relevant KPIs)
  • Make strategic pricing decisions using customer and market knowledge
  • Assist in the preparation of LCCs and other OE processes that require aftermarket pricing
  • Work to continuously improve pricing and costing tools and processes
  • Support the Manager, Business Analysis, Pricing & Costing in the summary level reporting of pricing team activities, including win/loss analysis, throughput of quotes, processing time of bids and other data as required to monitor and improve performance.
  • Support the aftermarket sales team in aggregating customer information and creating forecasts
  • Process Purchase Orders, including working with customers to correct mistakes and accepting or rejecting Terms and Conditions
  • Maintain appropriate costing and pricing documentation and upkeep RailServices files to the department standard
  • Must be able to act independently, implement directions effectively and without direct monitoring and supervision.

 

Competencies: Technical

  • Must be proficient in computer spreadsheets (Excel), word processing, scheduling and presentation software and reading drawings.  
  • Business Experience:  Must have good business sense to estimate costs, make good business decisions, risk assessments. 
  • Industry Experience:  Knowledge and practical understanding of brake or similar equipment.
  • Process Orientation:  Must understand and practice good organization and configuration management skills.
  • Ability to develop relationships with customers over a period of time is of critical importance.  The relationship to include contact with higher level customers and the position requires the ability to comfortably converse and represent Knorr’s products.
  • Technical aptitude: Exposure to and understanding of general engineering, manufacturing, and support of custom designed and fabricated equipment.
