HR Generalist I (Full-Time)

We’re excited to welcome a new teammate to our HR crew! As a HR Generalist I, you’ll help keep our HR world running smoothly by managing key processes with care and accuracy. You’ll play a big part in creating a great first experience for new hires, support employee data and reporting needs, and get to jump in on HR projects that help our team and mission shine. Schedule/Where You’ll Be
- Monday - Friday, general business hours, onsite at Johnston, IA location
How You’ll Make an Impact
HR Data Management & Transactions
- Manage high‑volume HR transactional processes with accuracy and timeliness, including data entry, reporting, filing, and processing employee data changes across multiple HR systems to support benefits and payroll requirements.
- Conduct systematic employee data quality reviews and personnel file audits to ensure compliance and maintain the integrity of HR records.
Onboarding & New Hire Support
- Facilitate new‑hire paperwork and welcoming activities in a way that reflects organizational culture, ensuring documentation is accurate, compliant, and aligned with onboarding requirements.
- Partner with HR team members and leaders to troubleshoot onboarding issues and refine processes for a smooth, consistent employee experience
Customer Service & HR Support
- Provide professional first-line service to staff, candidates, volunteers, vendors, and visitors regarding HR topics and processes.
- Assist visitors with directions and support HR-related events and initiatives.
Process Documentation & Improvement
- Maintain and develop procedural documentation; train team members for effective backup coverage.
- Regularly assess processes for efficiency, identify gaps, and recommend improvements.
Policy & Staff Relations Support
- Partner with leaders to provide recommendations on HR policies, processes, systems, and compliance with employment laws. Educate new leaders on staff relations programs and processes.
- Support communication and resolution of staff complaints and concerns; conduct reviews and investigations as needed.
Workforce Planning & Engagement
- Collaborate with leaders and HR team to develop workforce plans that promote engagement and retention.
- Assist with organizational structure changes and action plans within staff relations scope.
Compliance & Auditing
- Ensure compliance with employment eligibility verification and other regulatory requirements.
- Monitor and update documentation to meet service and legal standards.
What You’ll Need
- Associate degree, or equivalent experience in an HR or payroll support role required. BA or BS in Human Resources, Business, or related field preferred.
- 2 years’ experience in human resources preferred.
- Healthcare experience, preferred.
- Ability to travel independently in Iowa with limited frequency.
- Ability to communicate effectively and professionally in reading, writing, and speaking the English language.
