Mental Health Team Manager- Nurse Family Partnership

This position is based out of our corporate office in downtown Indianapolis.

Nurse-Family Partnership (NFP), a maternal and early childhood home visiting program, fosters long-term success for first-time parents and their babies and seeks to address some of the serious systemic problems affecting our community. Mental health support is identified as a critical component of the NFP model. The Manager, NFP Mental Health Team implements and oversees the initiatives to successfully support healthy parent-child relationships related to mental health.  The Manager uses principles of supervision, reflective practice, and staff development to provide primary assistance and appropriate oversight to the Mental Health Team and builds and models a strengths-based, client-centered culture.  Develops and maintains relationships based on trust, support, and growth with the team, management, and community members, as well as with NFP’s Changent Office representatives.

Example Duties and Activities 

• Provides oversight on the operations of the NFP Mental Health Team serving NFP clients including:

  • Recruiting, hiring, and onboarding staff.

  • Conducting weekly one-on-one meetings with each member of the NFP Mental Health Team.

  • Facilitating weekly staff meetings and case conferences for the NFP Mental Health Team.

  • Ensuring all staff have appropriate tools to effectively perform their responsibilities.

  • Evaluating performance of the NFP Mental Health Team and administering Performance Development Reviews (PDRs).

  • Monitoring individual data collection in DMCN or other EHR for reporting and visual data in DOMO.

• Develops and oversees the services to promote effective relationships which lead to the healthy social and emotional development of children and families within the NFP program:  group reflective supervision and participation in case conferences as requested.

  • Recognizes, supports, and meets the social and emotional needs of families, children, home visitors, and staff.   Assists caregivers in supporting the mental health of young children. 

  • Performs one-on-one reflection with home visitors, supervisors, and other staff.  

  • Provides professional development on mental health topics.  

• Develops a mental health toolkit for nurse home visitors to identify quality mental health services that are accessible to clients.  

• Establishes a facilitated referral process with health care systems in counties served by NFP including ongoing communication with and evaluation of these services.  

• Completes a gap analysis of mental health needs in the community.  

• Participates in continuous quality improvement through data collection and evaluation.

• Under the supervision of the Director of Operations, NFP ensures fulfillment of all grant requirements.

Required Competencies 

• Degree and Credential Requirements - Master’s degree in Social Work (MSW) with LSW/LCSW, or Master’s in Counseling (LMHC-A/LMHC), Marriage and Family Counseling (LMFT-A, LMFT), Doctorate in Psychology (HSPP), or board certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner. Certification in Perinatal Mental Health or certification completed within 1 year of hire.  Trained in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) preferred or willing to be trained.  Trained in Infant Mental Health endorsement Level II (IME-H) or satisfaction of core requirements preferred or willing to be trained.
