Responsibilities

Arcfield in Rome, NY is seeking mid-level field service engineers to support the fielding of systems deployed worldwide. Career level with a complete understanding and wide application of technical principles, theories, and concepts.

Responsibilities

What you’ll do…

  • Work under only general direction to engineer technical solutions to meet a wide range of customer mission scenarios.
  • Provide customers with system engineering expertise to define and prepare for technical product integration into customer system environments.
  • Travel to customer sites to support system installation, system integration with site infrastructure (email servers, file servers, time servers, PKI servers, etc.), customer training, verification of system readiness, validation of security mechanisms, and site accreditation testing processes.
  • Travel to customer sites to provide routine or emergency technical assistance.  
  • Support maintenance of customer systems through advanced troubleshooting and timely resolution of incidents to provide maximum system availability.
  • Support general-purpose customer training operations.
  • Collaborate with product development teams to reduce re-occurring incidents and to relay lessons learned during fielding operations.
  • Provide customer support assistance during off-hours as needed.

Qualifications

You’d be a great fit if you… 

  • You have relevant, real-world experience in this area through prior career/military experience, or a BS degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or other related technical field with 5-7 years of experience, or Master’s Degree with 3-5 years of experience.
  • Must have a current TS/SCI clearance
  • You have a basic working knowledge of UNIX OS (Linux, Solaris), Microsoft Windows, desktop applications (email, file transfer, browsers), computer networking, and Virtual Machine technologies.
  • You work well individually and in a team environment as either a team member or team lead.
  • You have excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • You can effectively and efficiently train a small or large group while being an engaging and dynamic teacher.
  • You have a desire to travel to customer sites around the world. Travel may be as much as 30% time.

 

It’d be even better if you have… 

  • Knowledge of Agile engineering processes.
  • Have extensive systems backgrounds and advanced working knowledge of UNIX OSs (SE Linux), Microsoft Windows, desktop applications (email, file transfer, browsers), computer networking and protocols, Virtual Machine technologies, UNIX scripting, XML technologies/tools, Active Directory, MS Exchange, and system integration, network troubleshooting, regular expressions, and system troubleshooting.
  • Have familiarity with secure systems architectures, system fielding, and system approval policies.
  • Have good understanding of software development processes sufficient to support collaboration with software engineering teams developing future product capabilities to better meet customer requirements.

Equal Pay Act

This is the projected compensation range for this position. There are differentiating factors that can impact a final salary/hourly rate, including, but not limited to, Contract Wage Determination, relevant work experience, skills and competencies that align to the specified role, geographic location (For Remote Opportunities), education and certifications as well as Federal Government Contract Labor categories. In addition, Arcfield invests in its employees beyond just compensation. Min: $63,205.50 Max: $151,881.88
