We have an exciting opportunity for the role of Senior Counsel – General supporting the Air & Space Defense System (ASDS) Strategic Business Unit (SBU). This role reports to the ASDS General Counsel, and directly supports the ASDS Sub-SBU (SSBU) key stakeholders, team and functions. Senior Counsel in this capacity serves as the primary point of contact providing guidance and direction on all legal and compliance matters and is responsible for providing timely, relevant and pragmatic legal, business and strategic advice to help the SSBU/SBU achieve its business and financial goals. Critical to this role is the Senior Counsel’s ability to quickly establish trust and foster a positive reputation with key program and functional leaders as their primary go-to partner for timely and pragmatic legal/business solutions. An effective Senior Counsel would have excellent legal and critical thinking skills, an understanding of the SBU business and financial goals, and a keen ability to effectively establish and exploit an internal network of Legal, Contracts & Compliance (LCC) professionals and functional resources.

The ASDS Legal team operates as one seamless collaborative unit with a vison to support the business as an embedded partner that is present at all levels within the SBU (e.g., SBU, SSBU, Program) and at key operational events (e.g., monthly financial/business reviews, Estimate at Completion (EAC) reviews, staff meetings). Senior Counsel will be expected to establish a regular cadence (at least 1x/month) with key functions within their assigned SSBUs including Contracts, Subcontracts and Finance. Senior Counsel will also serve as a leader on the ASDS Extended Legal Team (ELT) which comprises all direct and matrixed senior Legal and Compliance reports to the ASDS SBU.
