About the role

DIRECT HIRE: The Heavy Construction Equipment Mechanic is responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining heavy construction machinery and vehicles to ensure safe and efficient operations on job sites. This role requires mechanical expertise, problem-solving skills, and adherence to safety standards.

📍 Working Location: Jacksonville, FL. 
💰 Pay Range: $73K - $83K (depending on experience)
🕒 Base hours/Schedule: M - F, 8am - 5pm, +OT

Responsibilities: 
  • Inspect, diagnose, and repair heavy construction equipment including excavators, bulldozers, loaders, cranes, dump trucks, and backhoes
  • Perform preventative maintenance and routine service on all equipment according to manufacturer specifications
  • Troubleshoot mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical systems
  • Fabricate and replace parts as needed
  • Maintain accurate maintenance logs, service records, and parts inventory
  • Ensure all repairs and maintenance are performed safely and comply with company and regulatory standards
  • Assist operators with equipment operation guidance and best practices
  • Collaborate with project managers and supervisors to minimize equipment downtime
  • Provide input on equipment condition, replacement needs, and cost-saving opportunities
  • Keep shop, tools, and service truck clean, organized, and properly maintained
  • Ensure compliance with all company safety policies and OSHA/DOT regulations during maintenance and repair work
Skills:
  • High school diploma or equivalent; technical degree or certifications in diesel mechanics or heavy equipment repair preferred
  • Minimum 3-5 years of experience working on heavy construction or industrial equipment
  • Strong knowledge of diesel engines, hydraulics, transmissions, electrical systems, and brakes
  • Ability to read schematics, manuals, and blueprints
  • Proficient hand tools, power tools, and diagnostic equipment
  • Valid driver's license required-CDL preferred
  • Welding & fabrication skills a plus
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Qualifications:
Valid CDLA Driver's License
