Job Description

Apex Clean Energy is looking for an experienced Electrical Engineer to join our Project Management Department. In this role, you will be responsible for managing and coordinating the technical aspects of renewable energy projects, from development to construction completion and ongoing operations support. Working as part of a collaborative Electrical Engineering team, you will interface with internal teams such as Development, Transmission, Construction, and Operations, ensuring compliance with Apex's technical standards. You will also oversee major technical issues, manage the delivery of technical concepts and engineering designs, and coordinate and oversee third-party electrical engineering and design work.

Primary Responsibilities:

• Manage and coordinate the technical aspects of renewable energy projects throughout their lifecycle.
• Collaborate with internal teams including Development, Transmission, Construction, and Operations to ensure compliance with technical standards.
• Oversee major technical issues and provide solutions to ensure project success.
• Manage the delivery of technical concepts and engineering designs for projects at various stages of their lifecycle.
• Create and manage schematic drawings for electrical systems and components.
• Utilize tools such as ETAP, SKM, PSSE, PSCAD, EasyPower for analysis and simulation.
• Coordinate and oversee third-party electrical engineering and design work.
• Work with high voltage equipment, including circuit breakers and transformers.
• Demonstrate excellent communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with cross-functional teams.
• Work well under pressure, multitask, and adapt to shifting priorities in a dynamic environment.
• Pay strong attention to detail and have the ability to synthesize and conceptualize complex ideas.
• Exhibit a passion for renewable energy.

Success Profile

To succeed as a Senior Electrical Engineer at Apex Clean Energy, you'll need to excel within the following criteria:

• Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or a related field. Advanced degree is a plus.
• Proven experience in managing technical aspects of renewable energy projects.
• Strong knowledge of electrical engineering principles, renewable energy systems, and relevant industry standards.
• Three years minimum of related experience in electrical engineering design; particularly in substations with renewable energy power plants being ideal
• Experience with creating and managing schematic drawings for electrical systems and components.
• Proficiency in utilizing tools such as PSCAD for analysis and simulation.
• Familiarity with SEL devices for protection and control.
• Experience working with high voltage equipment, including circuit breakers and transformers.
• Experience with project management tools and software.
• Excellent communication, interpersonal, and collaboration skills.
• Ability to work well under pressure and adapt to changing priorities.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Passion for renewable energy and a commitment to sustainability.
• Proof of COVID-19 vaccination required upon employment

Work Environment:

Works primarily traditional office hours in an indoor office environment. Flexible work hours allowed when work duties and business operations permit.
