As a Staff Scientist – Data Science, Benchtop Solutions to support the activities of new product development (NPD) and current product support (CPS) related to state-of-the-art electrochemical biosensors/assays development, assay system integration and complex data analysis efficiency improvement. The Staff Scientist – Data Science, Benchtop Solutions will integrate within priority areas of need to assure timely, focused deliverables aligned with strategic direction. This role will support both NPD and CPS initiatives through application of:
• Scientific rigor across all phases of the product development lifecycle
• Proven problem-solving capabilities with a structured and data-driven approach
• Extensive data science, coding knowledge and working experience (e.g. data analytics, complex data management, AI/machine learning based solutions, Python, R)
• Spearhead the implementation of modern data analysis and Gen AI/Large Language Modeling methodologies

Key Responsibilities
This is a role well suited to an ambitious professional, looking for the next step in their career. As a Staff Scientist – Data Science, Benchtop Solutions you will be responsible for:
• Utilizing specialized chemistry and general scientific knowledge and skills to lead R&D projects developing state-of the-art biosensor/assay and accompanying processes for measurement of analytes in blood in a point-of-care setting.
• Leading troubleshooting of complex scientific investigations and finding innovative solutions via data analysis and AI/machine learning based approaches.
• Play a key role in the planning, design and execution of signal processing, time-series analysis, and predictive machine learning algorithms for highly integrated point-of-care medical devices.
• Strong understanding of biosensor data and diagnostic instrumentation. Delivering regular written and oral project updates to R&D colleagues and program stakeholders and completing deliverables to support the product development process.
• Collaborating closely with other R&D personnel and with manufacturing during the design transfer process.
• Championing the use of statistical methods and data science practices to enable timely, data-driven decisions regarding assay design and performance. Offering innovative solutions and developing tools for data analysis efficiency improvement for both NPD and CPS activities.
• Mentoring and coaching colleagues for complex and modern data solutions. Fostering the thinking process in Gen AI/ML/LLM based approaches in product development and lifecycle management.

Required Qualifications
• MSc or Ph.D. in scientific or engineering related disciplines, such as Chemistry/Biochemistry, Chemical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering.
• 10+ years of experience with complex data management, data analysis, mathematical modeling, algorithm development etc., including working experience with Gen AI/LLM models and workflows.
• Proficiency in coding/programming languages (Python, R, C, C++, MATLAB etc.) required.
• Expert in data analysis and visualization, such as Microsoft Excel, Excel Macros Development, Minitab, JMP, SAS and others.
• Proven track record of building and validating models, deploying solutions for production, monitoring model performance and reliability.
• Proven track record of successful innovative data solutions and root cause analysis experience.
• Strong analytical, communication, interpersonal and project management skills.
• Ability to work effectively in a dynamic, cross-disciplinary team environment.
Preferred Qualifications
• Experience with in-vitro diagnostic assays.
• Understanding of CLSI guidance and data analysis format.
• Experience working with data from early-stage biosensor protypes, pre-clinical and clinical data.
