About the Role

The Youth Services Lead Practitioner provides expert guidance and leadership in professional practice to ensure the delivery of high-quality, evidence-based youth services. The role is responsible for enhancing practice capability within a defined service context, supporting the consistent delivery of effective services for young people across Tasmania.

Working in close partnership with regional service delivery managers, the position ensures the implementation of locally tailored professional practice initiatives that align with best-practice standards. This role plays a key part in leading and promoting change, fostering a culture of continuous learning, and driving improvement to strengthen service outcomes in regional areas. It operates under the direction of the Principal Practitioner.

The role also contributes to the development, implementation, and evaluation of professional practice frameworks, as well as to policy development, governance processes, and practice reviews within regional service delivery contexts.

This role is working in the Office of the Chief Practitioner.

Period of Appointment

Ongoing - ASAP start date

76 hours per fortnight

Essential Requirements

• Current Tasmanian Registration to Work with Vulnerable People (Registration Status – Employment)
• Satisfactory completion of an approved allied health professional tertiary qualification/program of study and registered with the relevant National Board or, in the case of self-regulated allied health professions, eligible for membership with the relevant professional association
• The Head of the State Service has determined that the person nominated for this job is to satisfy a pre-employment check before taking up the appointment, on promotion or transfer. The following checks are to be conducted:

1 Conviction checks in the following areas:

a) crimes of violence
b) sex related offences
c) serious drug offences
d) crimes involving dishonesty
e) serious traffic offences

2 Identification check
3 Disciplinary actions in previous employment check

Desirable Requirements

• Postgraduate qualifications in youth work, leadership, or practice development is highly desirable
• Experience working in youth justice or youth programs
• Current Driver’s Licence
