Department Overview
The Diablo Canyon Fire Department (DCFD) is an all risk emergency response organization, responding to a variety of emergencies including fire, hazardous materials, medical aids, and technical rescue, as well as supporting monthly surveillance procedures for all fire valves, fire hoses, hose reel stations, fire extinguishers and fire barriers and barrier penetrations.
Position Summary
Administers/oversees the training requirements of the DCPP fire department and supervises the performance of and assigns duties to fire captains and firefighters. Responsible for maintaining the readiness and qualifications of emergency responders to fire, hazardous material incidents, medical and technical rescue emergencies.
To obtain and maintain employment and unescorted access at DCPP, you must be able to pass a drug and alcohol screen, a security background check, psychological screen, computer-based training, and be subject to random drug and alcohol screening.
PG&E is providing the salary range that the company in good faith believes it might pay for this position at the time of the job posting. This compensation range is specific to the locality of the job. The actual salary paid to an individual will be based on multiple factors, including, but not limited to, specific skills, education, licenses or certifications, experience, market value, geographic location, and internal equity. We would not anticipate that the individual hired into this role would land at or near the top half of the range described below, but the decision will be dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case.
A reasonable salary range is:
California Minimum: $120,000
California Maximum: $190,000
Job Responsibilities
- Attends, participates, and/or represents PG&E within activities, events, and functions of community organizations.
- Creates delivery models, executes delivery, and tracks completion of training for compliance purposes.
- Develops and implements guidelines and process documentation.
- Plans, facilitates and schedules regular emergency training exercises.
- Communicates to external agencies and deals with moderately complex and difficult issues with customers and public entities escalated from others.
- Manages daily work activities; reviews and approves priorities and work products.
- Ensures the team has adequate tools, training and technology to successfully perform their jobs.
- Ensures work site is safe.
Qualifications
Minimum:
- High School or GED-General Educational Development-GED Diploma
- Experience in fire protection, 6 years
- Leadership experience, 3 years
- Possess current American Heart Association (AHA) CPR certification
Desired:
- Bachelors Degree or equivalent experience
- Experience as Training Officer
- Nuclear power plant experience, commercial
- Fire Investigations 1A certification
- Fire Officer Chief certification
- Fire Officer Executive certification
- Supervision experience as a Fire Captain or Chief Officer in the professional fire service
- Experience as a certified Trainer or Instructor
- Ability to plan, organize, direct and control routine work assignments and work loads
- Experience providing accountability, discipline, coaching, and correction to address safety, behavior, or performance issues those under his/her supervision
