Position Summary
An Engineering intern will manage and implement projects that enhance our window or door products and utilize Pella’s continuous improvement and problem solving methodologies to improve our manufacturing processes. Responsibilities will be similar to what we expect of entry-level engineers who join Pella after graduating. Focus on developing competencies, engineering skills and how/when to apply them. Work closely with assigned manager and mentor on strategic projects and focused developmental opportunities.
As a Product Engineer intern, you will:
- Modify products to improve performance, decrease manufacturing costs, and/or improve customer satisfaction.
- Application of materials within products and processes.
- Project management delivering ideas into concepts for design implementation.
- Create the window of the future.
- Degrees preferred: Mechanical Engineer, Agricultural Engineer.
- Pursuing a B.S. from a four-year college or university in an Engineering field. See above for preferences
- Strong academic candidate with Leadership Experience both inside and outside the classroom
- Ability to use the following software applications: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, Outlook, AutoCad, and Solid Edge (or equivalent).
- Ability to effectively communicate to technical and non-technical team members utilizing written and verbal skills, including presentations to small and large groups
- Experience managing projects from concept through implementation, in a fast-paced, team-based environment
