Position Summary
This is an entry level engineering position that will support the sustaining engineering group for the anesthesia products lines. However, assignments may include work for other products within the Teleflex portfolio. Experience and background requirements should focus on disposable products. Incumbent organizes and manages multiple projects and insures projects are completed in a timely manner; Assignments may focus on sustaining engineering assignments providing creative solutions to existing products when problems arise, or modifications are requested. Performs other duties as required or assigned
DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS:
Incumbent in this class performs the entry level scope of assignments to plan, design and coordinate the development and implementation of engineering activities to support changes and improvements to existing products lines projects through manufacturing scale-up. Incumbent at this level receives occasional instruction or assistance as new or unusual situations arise and are fully aware of the operating procedures and policies of the work unit.
Principal Responsibilities
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
• Assist with the development of Design History Files.
• Review existing product lines and provide technical writing support.
• Prepare and coordinate execution of protocols for design verification of various medical devices and components.
• Gather data on current products to support marketing, engineering, and regulatory requests.
• Support multiple projects and ensure they are completed in a timely manner.
• Responsible for formal project management and related project documentation for minor design and sustaining projects.
• Help generate design ideas for new products as well as solutions to existing products when modifications are requested.
• Understand and assist other team members in updating and maintaining risk documentation to conform to current standards.
• Serve as a participant in cross functional teams as the R&D representative and/or technical lead. Collaborate with the cross functional teams (Engineering, Quality, Regulatory, Marketing, Clinical) to understand technical targets and design control systems.
• Support sustaining engineering efforts for the Manufacturing plants as applicable. Teleflex is a global organization with manufacturing facilities in the US, Mexico, Czech Republic, Malaysia, India and Germany. Ability to travel to international locations is mandatory.
• Demonstrate professional responsibilities by cooperating with other personnel to achieve departmental and corporate objectives/goals and maintain good employee relations.
MARGINAL FUNCTIONS
• Enhance growth and development through participation in education programs, current literature, training meetings and workshops.
• Participate actively in continuous quality improvement activities through compliance with relevant standards.
• Maintain compliance with principles of accepted employee conduct as identified in the Teleflex employee handbook and as specified in departmental policies and procedures.
• Perform other related duties as assigned or requested.
Education / Experience Requirements
• Possession of bachelor’s Degree in Engineering.
• One year of medical device or other related design experience.
• Experience in SolidWorks CAD (design/drafting) program.
