Research Assistant - Cardiovascular Medicine

Job Description Summary:

The position requires expertise through formal training as well as experience in most aspects of outcomes based clinical research in the Division of Interventional Cardiology and Vascular Medicine in the Department of Cardiovascular Medicine. This includes large database management and desaturation, statistical analysis including advanced techniques, and an ability to write manuscripts, research proposals, grants, and other research related activities. The employee will also assist with clinical trials and clinical registries with data entry. The individual will be required to fulfill all credentialing and exam requirements to be able to conduct human subjects research at the University of Kansas Medical Center. The individual chosen should be a team player and a leader as they will be working with medical students, residents, fellows as well as attending physicians. Highest ethical standards for clinical research are mandatory.

Job Description:

Required Qualifications

Education: Bachelor's degree in Public Health, Epidemiology, or Clinical Research

Work Experience:

  • Experience writing for medical journals.

  • Data management

Preferred Qualifications

Education: Master's, MD, or related degree

Work Experience: Data based and outcomes research

Skills:

  • SPSS, R, SAS and other statistical software

  • Intermediate to advanced Microsoft Office Suite

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Organizational skills

Job Duties Outlined: ·        

  • Delegate and coordinate assignments to team members, including medical students and other KUMC staff members.

  • Keep research meeting minutes.

  • Mange and track daily, weekly, monthly, and quarterly task lists.

  • Data management and statistical analysis

  • Write abstracts/manuscripts.

  • Process manuscript submissions, including communicating with journals and timely resubmissions.

  • Help prepare grant applications.

  • Request and obtain secure access to protected health information.

  • Comply and maintain data security per KUMC/TUKHS policies and approvals.
