Field Application Security IP, Staff Engineer-18148
SynopsysAbout the role
We Are:
At Synopsys, we drive the innovations that shape the way we live and connect. Our technology is central to the Era of Pervasive Intelligence, from self-driving cars to learning machines. We lead in chip design, verification, and IP integration, empowering the creation of high-performance silicon chips and software content. Join us to transform the future through continuous technological innovation.
You Are:
You are a seasoned engineering professional with a passion for hardware security and helping customers solve complex system architecture challenges. You thrive in customer-facing environments where technical excellence, communication skills, and business awareness are equally important.
You understand how security requirements influence SoC architecture and product design decisions. Whether discussing secure boot strategies with architects, evaluating post-quantum cryptography requirements with security teams, or presenting differentiated security solutions to executive stakeholders, you can translate complex concepts into clear, actionable recommendations.
You are comfortable leading technical discussions, asking the right questions, and guiding customers through evolving security requirements and design trade-offs. You build credibility quickly and establish yourself as a trusted advisor who helps customers navigate difficult technical decisions.
You are highly self-motivated and capable of independently managing multiple customer engagements. At the same time, you recognize that customer success is a team effort and work closely with sales, R&D, product management, and fellow application engineers to drive successful outcomes.
While experience in semiconductor security is preferred, we welcome candidates with strong semiconductor IP, SoC architecture, embedded systems, or related technical backgrounds who demonstrate exceptional customer engagement and technical leadership skills.
What You'll Be Doing:
- Lead customer-facing technical engagements throughout the sales cycle, including technical discovery, architecture discussions, product demonstrations, evaluations, and definition of success criteria.
- Act as the technical lead for security IP opportunities, helping customers understand how Synopsys solutions address their security and architecture requirements.
- Guide customers in evaluating and selecting Security IP solutions including cryptographic accelerators, Root of Trust solutions, Physical Unclonable Functions (PUF), Post-Quantum Cryptography (PQC), and interface security technologies.
- Engage directly with system architects, security teams, hardware designers, firmware developers, and technical management to understand customer objectives and constraints.
- Develop differentiated technical solutions that position Synopsys Security IP as the preferred choice for customer programs.
- Deliver technical workshops, presentations, and demonstrations that communicate both technical value and competitive differentiation.
- Collaborate closely with account teams to define technical strategy for strategic opportunities and customer engagements.
- Work with product management and R&D teams to communicate customer requirements, market trends, competitive intelligence, and enhancement requests.
- Represent Synopsys at industry events, conferences, customer workshops, and technical forums.
- Contribute to internal technical enablement, best practices, and knowledge sharing across the Applications Engineering organization.
What You'll Need:
- BS or MS in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical discipline.
- 5+ years of experience in semiconductor IP, ASIC/SoC development, embedded systems, hardware security, or related technical fields.
- Strong customer-facing communication and presentation skills.
- Experience discussing technical solutions with architects, designers, engineering management, and executive stakeholders.
- Understanding of semiconductor design methodologies and SoC development processes.
- Ability to understand complex customer requirements and translate them into practical technical solutions.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to travel as required to support customer engagements.
