Job Description:

Summary:

Incumbent functions as the Assistant Director of Career Outreach and Programming in the Office of Career Development in the School of International Service (SIS) and will be responsible for establishing and developing relationships with external constituencies and coordinating programming to support the career development of SIS students. Organizes a full calendar of career programs and events to connect students with alumni, recruiters, industry representatives, corporations, professional organizations, and others who provide opportunities to develop professional interests and competencies, integrate academic learning with work, develop sponsorships and partnerships, and explore future career possibilities.

1. ALUMNI AND EMPLOYER DEVELOPMENT

  • Establish and develop relationships with external constituencies, including alumni, recruiters,  industry representatives, corporations, professional organizations, and others, to increase presence and participation on campus and enhance students opportunities for career exploration, networking, professional development, experiential education, and recruitment.

  • Designs alumni and employer development strategy with Director, Career Education and Employer Relations and other alumni and employer relations staff across the institution to increase diversity of organizations and opportunities available to students and alumni.

  • Identify and communicate with prospective employers to meet student needs, respond to industry employment/hiring trends, and enhance school brand.

  • Facilitate and implement recruiting and marketing/branding strategies to gain appropriate visibility and connections on campus for employers.

  • Represents SIS and Office of Career Development at events at university and employer events.

2. EVENT AND PROGRAM MANAGEMENT

  • Develop and execute a full calendar of creative and innovative career programming and experiential education activities, including site visits, job shadowing, speed networking, mock interviews, and more, to meet the needs of students, alumni, employers, and other stakeholders.

  • Ensure that goals set for programming are in alignment with the mission of the unit, division, and institution, and meet the needs of a diverse population.

  • Establish and follow basic budgets for programs and events, and demonstrate effective stewardship and use of fiscal resources.

  • Ensure that programming is managed effectively from start to finish and that appropriate resources are available for implementation.

  • Use knowledge of technical applications and learning styles to make informed choices regarding the use of technology with/for programming, and ensure that technological applications are inclusive and adhere to the accepted principles of accessibility and distance learning.
