Mountain Rec is seeking an Aquatics Coordinator to support our Aquatics Department. The Aquatics Coordinator is responsible for assisting the Aquatics Supervisor in planning, implementing, and organizing recreation programs and services for aquatics while occasionally serving in a front-line role and providing high quality recreation opportunities for the community. Coordinating and overseeing swim lesson program, ensuring lessons run effectively and improving the program based off observations, current practices, and instructor/patron feedback. Assists in the operation and use of the District’s Aquatic Facilities to promote the safety, convenience, and enjoyment of patrons.

POSITION DETAILS

Job Title: Aquatics Coordinator

Location: District-wide • Gypsum Recreation Center (Gypsum, CO), Gypsum Creek Pool (Gypsum, CO), Eagle Pool and Ice Rink (Eagle, CO)

Schedule: Full-Time; Exempt

Work Environment: Work schedule is varied and may require evenings, weekends, and holidays. Hours vary depending upon specific program needs.


Duties may be performed either indoors or outdoors; work environment and physical demands described below are representative of those an employee will encounter while performing the essential functions of this job.   • Frequent exposure to the sun, wet and/or humid conditions, or other outdoor weather conditions
  • Occasional exposure to moving mechanical parts, toxic, or caustic chemicals (such as chlorine)
  • Exposure to moderate levels of noise
  • Frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100+ pounds.
  • Physical exertion includes frequent walking, bending, and standing for long durations.

The flow of work and character of duties involve a high degree of mental and visual attention much or all the time. This position also requires the ability to maintain focus for multiple hours at a time in sunny, hot, humid conditions. Job stress may include dealing with crowds, uncooperative participants, difficult individuals, emergency response, sun exposure to illness, and periods of continuous demand.


Supervision Required: Works under the general guidance and direction of the Aquatics Supervisor.

Supervision Exercised: Works with Aquatics Supervisor to supervise part-time and seasonal employees, volunteers, instructors, and coaches.


Salary: $52,519 – $65,649 annually DOE; staff in this position are eligible for a $1/hour incentive for Spanish/English bilingual and can pass the language competency test.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

General Statement of Duties: Assists Aquatic Supervisor in planning, implementing, and organizing recreation programs and services while serving in a front-line role while providing high quality recreation opportunities for the community. Must actively lifeguard at facilities, helping ensure pools are open, lifeguard coverage is met, and facilities are operational year-round.


Examples of Duties:

  • Supervises, and conducts aquatic programs to achieve departmental and community service goals as assigned.
  • Coordinates and teaches American Red Cross Group and Private Swim lessons, delegating to part-time staff first, teaching in the water to supplement part-time staff availability.
