Position Overview

The UX Designer is responsible for delivering user centered designs and education to KTG enterprise and advocates for UX/UI team vision for new or existing digital products from the Kiewit Technology Group. This role works closely with the UX Research, Product, Project, and Software Engineering teams to ensure an effective user centered design process is followed throughout the software development lifecycle.

Responsibilities

•Initiates and maintains collaborative relationships with all members of the team.
•Develops, maintains, and strengthens partnerships with others inside or outside the organization who can provide information, assistance, and support.
•Effectively communicates verbal, written, and designed content.
•Demonstrates ability to establish and meet deadlines or commitments while managing expectations, along with escalating and communicating any risks in a timely manner.
•Initiates and solicits input from the Product Owner, Product Manager, Business Analyst, and UX Researcher to assist with designing the most effective user interface design.
•Investigates and adopts different and new ways of doing things and willing to modify one’s preferred way of doing things.
•Produces and documents appropriate UX deliverables such as service blueprints, process diagrams, personas, empathy maps, prioritization grids, wireframes, site maps, and user flows.
•Facilitates user-centered discovery activities including workshops, mapping exercises, and UX/UI deliverable definition.
•Partners with UX Researcher to represent the voice of the end user ensuring intuitive design, end user adoption and engagement with solutions.
•Critically analyzes and interprets information collected from UX research from stakeholders, requirements gathering consultation, end users, and external data to make recommendations to UI and functional design.
•Creates compelling design mockups, prototypes, and wireframes that convey intuitiveness and usability across multiple complex applications.
•Documents and catalogs all design iterations of UI artifacts, specifications, mockups, wireframes, and prototypes.
•Partners with architects and developers to convey UI Design in a way that translates into technical solution options.
•Demonstrates an attention to detail in everyday work and communication outputs.

Qualifications

•Demonstrated practice of User Centered Design (UCD) and creation of UX deliverables (site maps, user flows, personas) required.
•Demonstrated UX/Design Thinking facilitation skills such as Design Sprints or Workshops.
•Ability to synthesize and articulate complex concepts targeted at multiple audiences.
•Effectively communicates verbal, written, and designed content.
•Willingness to travel approximately less than 10%.

Bonus Points:
•Degree in Human Computer Interaction (HCI), User Experience Design or equivalent professional training / experience preferred.
•Experience in enterprise-wide product solutions preferred.
•Background in Social Sciences/ Business / Visual Design a plus.
•Will also consider candidates with degree in Design or Visual Communication.
•Experience with prototyping software such as Figma, Sketch, or Axure.
